For people that are inactive for LONG periods of time.....
I just noticed ALOT of the nicer names are hold by inactive people that didnt ever make it past level 1.... i searched for Prowl and Silverstreak today (other then mine). and both are inactive players that never made it out of the noobish phase.... Do you think there is so amout of inactive time like..... 1 year for every level you are... untill your names get recycled into the omnimatrix.. or something...

Grab them after the v2 reset.

No, get them now.
Glyph has said that we will be keeping our Team and minions names, however he may have something in mind for more obvious Canon names (but i cant remember where/if I read that or if I just made it up).

If they are inactive for 3 months you can take the name.
You can tell if the name will be available by checking out the character's profile. If there is no ranking in their profile then you can have the name.
I got Defensor and Superion by waiting and looking.

TBH, why the clamour to have canon names?
Surely its more fun to have an original team with Transformers you have invented yourself?

I thought there was the option to keep them but if you didn't reclaim them they'd be lost.

The only cannon name that I really want to have is Silverbolt. I have a nice long bio written up for him that explains even why he became a Decepticon. Other then that though I perfer non-cannon characters, be nice to get Flatline as well so I have my medic that I wanted. Currently I believe its a Autobot medic and well that name just fits a Decepticon far far better.
As for the big name cannon guys I think they should be offered to the guys that play the game all the time with the stipulation that they have to be highly ranked and used often. If they were to quit the game then said character would be removed.
This way the big guys are out there, they aren't some weak character and they are very active.
I would probalby pick out say 20 names for both sides that would never be able to be taken by anyone. Perhaps more then that.
I would avoid having all of those names under one account that is controlled by one player.

Are we all Predacons now?! Do we destroy that what does not fit our view of perfection

True, but names you get hold of now and keep active will be guaranteed to be yours after the next gen of HMW begins.

In the context of pinching their inactive canon names.
If they are inactive now, why wait for someone else to swipe them?

My team is the Autobot Titans. I want the biggest, baddest Autobots of all time (and Wheelie).Psychout wrote:TBH, why the clamour to have canon names?

Doesn't get much more fun than that

Like was mentioned before, ANY name that goes inactive for three months becomes available for swipage by active players. This prevents good names from becoming permanently unavailable to people who are actually playing. If their logs shows the character hasn't been in a mission or arena bout for 2,160 hours, you can take it.
I landed all my canon names simply by searching on desirable ones and paying attention. I wanted a couple like Rattrap and Bumblebee because they had always been my favorite Transformers and I thought it was neat to have them on my team. A couple others I took because I found they were available and it was totally on whim to take them. Some I kept, some I later gave up to other players who wanted them. Optimus Prime I took when I found he was available and tried to find one of the higher level Autobot players to take him, and then decided to hang onto him when I had no takers. Now I have no interest in giving him up.
And as far as I know for the v2 reset, we keep ALL our names. The canon names are just like any other resource in HMW - first come, first serve.

As mentioned before, if a player hasn't activated their character at least once in a 90 day period, then that name becomes available for anyone to take it. This sometimes results in two players with characters with the same name.

When a name becomes available through inactivity, the old bot doesn't "lose" the name. It merely becomes able to be "cloned." So if a new player uses that name, he merely gets to use it as well, while the original bot doesn't lose the name. Meaning that if the original player comes back (which usually isn't likely), there will be two active bots by that name. Glyph thought it was a good comprimise to keep names available while not unduly punishing players who go inactive then come back.

Didn't I just say that?
Please forgive me if this seems a bit "snappy", this new journal task I've recieved is driving everyone working on it crazy.

Yeah, you did. But I'm doing multiple things at work and started writing that before you posted, and didn't bother to check if anyone else had posted when I finally hit "send."

Maybe I can shed a little light on this one? Last year I want to say around March or so, ( could have been April) There was a release of a lot of names and for a day or so, I managed to pick up many of my canon names at that time. If a player had came back then there would still be his teams names as well. Last I was told yes it was 90 days if inactivity and the name would become usable for someone else.PredaconX wrote:-Soundwave- and I both have a Buzzsaw
Edit: If I were to change my Buzzsaw's name and PrediconX has been active then I would not beable to get it back.
