I'm soooooooo pissed!
I'm so pissed off right now. So I was in a rush earlyer, sence I had to see my sick grandmother in the hospital, and I letf Longarm and Dropkick on my chair. When I come back I find Dropkick broken. One of the truck bed pieces broke off. My dumbass of a brother gave me some half assed apoligy, telling me he sat on it, but not to leave my stuff there, I told him he should have looked where he was sitting, and there was bigger stuff on the chair with it. I told him he had to pay for it but he said no and my mom aggreed. Who's right?

He should pay for it. You were doing something important, and he is (no offense) an idiot for not looking. For all he knows they were bombs.

Get over it. They are $10 toys. S#!T happens.
The nice thing for him to do would be to pay you back, or buy you new ones. If you were not his brother or he sat on some other kid's toys, would he just say 'Oh, sorry kid' and do nothing more?
If he pays you back - great. If not, oh well. There are bigger things to worry about in life.

I find it hard to believe you were in THAT much of a rush you couldn't take a few more seconds to put your toys in a safe place.
What, you think all those "put your toys away!" rants we got from our parents as kids was because they liked to nag?

yeah, but it's the principal of the matter. If you break something of someones, shouldn't you pay the person back? It's only right.

If a relative gets sick (especially your grandmother/grandfather) a lot of people get real worried and will rush, leaving things like that behind. Its especially sad since he got that only about five days ago (If I recall he mentioned it on Christmas eve).
Though it is only a ten dollar toy, there are some people who have trouble getting ten bucks, I am one of those people. Not only is it a ten dollar toy however, it is a semi-rare ten dollar toy, I barely found Dropkick and Longarm my self. You should have taken the time to put it though if you have a brother like that.

forgive and forget, i always say.
hey, you love Transformers more than your brother? always put value on people rather than things, man - let it go. it isn't worth hating your brother for toys that cost only $10 each. at the end of it all, they're only toys.
just my 2 cents.

Hmmm, tricky one.
As you are in the US where the toy costs $10, I say get over it.
However, if you were here in Australia where it may well have cost $30, then I would maim your brother.
Hope your Grandma's OK.

Doesn't matter what anyone heres says, your mother has spoken. You could have the whole internet agreeing with you, wouldn't change a thing.
Personally, I'd say you were both a bit dumb. You for leaving stuff where it can get broken, your brother for sitting down without checking what was there. Btw, is Longarm really semi-rare in the States? Couple of days ago, I saw about a dozen of him in Tesco. If only we could set up some sort of exchange program between the US and the UK to trade our respective shelfwarmers.

If it were my brother, I'd hit him till he paid me back for it.
Though I shouldn't encourage violence, and they were only toys. And if your mom is backing him up, nothing you can do except sit on any of his toys you see on a chair.
Neverending cycles of immaturity ftw!

they're not just toys, they're collectibles! i would pay it back because if i was your brother than i would feel guilt because that's your hobby and i broke them or maybe he's just a poor idiot who makes his mom pay for everything.

suprised no one brought that up.

My opinion is that he didn't pay attention to what he was doing and broke something that was not his to break, therefore he should replace it. BUT...your mother agreed with your brother on the matter, so her word FAAARR supercedes anything anyone on the internet has to say about it....Everyone knows the rules: Mom's word is LAW! Even dads know this!

Re: I'm soooooooo pissed!
well, good news, I can still hold the pieces together in vehicle mode, he just looks a little funny in robot mode, I'm not so mad now about him not paying me back, but the phony apoligy, If I broke one of him computer parts, I would apoligyze my ass off, even if the part costed less then Dropkick. I respect, his hobby, of spending most of his time besides work on the computer playing counter-strike, and whatever, why can't he respect mine? My tfs mean alot to me, and he just dosen't understand, so he gives me this half-assed apoligy.

Re: I'm soooooooo pissed!
I have the same problems with my younger brothers.
Only, rather than Transformers figures (of which I have none) it's my Warhammer 40k models.
Sure, I can just glue them back together, but that's not really the point, is it?
You break, you buy. Simple, no?

Look at it this way.
Atleast it wasn't something too rare like a custom bumblebee or something right?
Anyway. Forgive him, it sounds far fetched but it might really BEEN an accident. And since he is your brother that is HIS grandmother too so he might have been thinking about her also.

I can understand how infuriating brothers can be....I had one that used to go out of his way to destroy things I cared about...I could not count how many of my Transformers he broke and/or blew up in the 80's, and it was just to piss me off! Since he was a momma's boy, he never had to replace any of them because he could do no wrong and it was always MY fault they got broken.
Since we are both much older now, he has come around and seen the error of his ways, and actually APOLOGIZED honestly for all of that....heck, he even REPLACED some of my more prized pieces over the years! Someday, maybe your brother will do the same!

Well said. I know it stinks, and TFs mean alot to some people and not so much to others. Mine mean a good deal to me, good times good memories. The fact is it's done with don't let it bother you. Forgive and forget is easier said than done but give it a shot. You can always replace them eventually.

i hear you. my idiot brother/parents always pick up freshly painted/glued space marines that I have on my hobby table and they snap/fall apart and then I have to spend hours redoing them. My take on this is, if its your chair/table/whatever, you're entitled to put whatever you want on it. If the chair belonged to bond, and to bond only, he is perfectly entitled to put them on that chair at his OWN risk, meaning at the risk of him and him only sitting on it.

I think people on here demand too much of others.
"You shouldn't expect him to pay it back"
"It's a toy, he's your brother, which is more important"
"Oh boo hoo" (basically)
1.) The blame rests squarely on both of them.
(He most like did have to leave in a hurry. It happens to all of us, for those of you that said otherwise...you're idiots. Next time you're forced to leave in a huff and something goes wrong, remind us to point and laugh. Ridicule works both ways you know. Yeah, he could've put 'em in his room or something, but is his brother really so stupid that he didn't look before he sat down? No. That's a load of bull. Bad timing + leaving in a hurry + idiocy on both sides = broken figure.)
2.) The apology was crap.
(I've had people say "It was an accident, why should I have to say sorry? It's not like I intentionally did it. That's why it's called an accident." Pure crapola response. If you're going to apologize, at least try and sound sincere.)
3.) It was broken when it could've been avoided, so it should be either replaced or monetary compensation should come along.
(If you break something that belongs to someone else, aren't you held accountable for it and have to pay for it? You cause a small fender bender, you're still gonna pay for it. You break a figure, you're gonna pay for it.)
4.) Yes, his brother is more important than a toy, but does his brother give him same amount of respect? I don't think so.
(This happens more often than not in a family. Siblings don't give a crap about their own flesh and blood, so reciprocation of respect certainly won't be there.)
5.) The mother's wrong. Completely and utterly wrong.
(All she's doing is teaching the one son that it's okay to be walked over and just swallow the crap that the world feeds you, and she's teaching the other one that he can do no wrong. I've seen families like that before, and it didn't work out. Their children turned into horrible adults. Horrible.)
I think a good smack in the head for all three of 'em would work wonders.
*WHAP* Be smarter with your stuff.
*WHAP* Don't break something that doesn't belong to you and you will replace it.
*WHAP* Be a better mother and a better example.
...but we're not allowed to do that. Though I surely would love to.
