Life sized Transformers in Cleveland, OH
I just came across this video on CNN's iReport section. Man, I wish I had time to do something like this. I also wish I knew how to properly embed a video!

Want to be the most popular house on the block this Halloween? You could follow this family's example and create a 17 ft Optimus Prime model and 12 ft Bumblebee as part of your Halloween lawn decor.
Check out this news report about a very creative Ohio family who, in the spirit of the Halloween season, designed and built a set of foam and wood movie Optimus Prime and Bumblebee models. Of course, these didn't just appear over night, they took the family 8 months of hardwork.
You can see the CNN video here, and some screen captures below, showing the creation and display of the huge statues.
What Transformers fan wouldn't want these in their yard, especially for the Halloween season? Next Halloween the Cleveland family says they will be adding a few Decepticons into the midst...Barricade and Megatron!

Kudos

He's got some pretty far-out powers to go along with them, too, including teleportation, the projection of trippy telepathic visions and illusions, and the ability to groove on the language of 98% of all known species. To uses his powers to the fullest, though, he's gotta be feelin' good vibrations; bad karma can seriously harsh his mellow, y'know?

Very well done !!! I love the scale and detail on Optimus. I wonder where they plan to store these things during the rainy season. I wish they would have interviewed the family and let them talk a little about the building process instead of playing rock music...
GREAT JOB ON THE STATUES !!!

Re: Life sized Transformers in Cleveland, OH
We are the Cleveland family that created the Halloween Transformer display. We just wanted to say thank you to TigerTracks for posting this story! We really appreciate it. Thank you also for all the comments. In response to the question about the storage....they are all built in different pieces to take apart and store away for the year. It was built to scale to fit through our doorways. I also wanted to add that we have a myspace address so you can check out more videos and videos of the local news stations that covered it! www.myspace.com/transformersclevelandoh

These look awesome!!! Poor Bee looks mistransformed in the last pic (kinda squat) but perfect in the first pic.
Prime is impressive...he'll slow down traffic, that's for sure.

I agree wholeheartedly with the first part of the statement. EXTREMELY well done. I can't wait to see the adds for next year. Can someone make a Santa hat and sent it to them for Optimus?

On this one I can only say...so are the Browns!

It finally happened. The Chicago Cubs won the World Series. Yes, I cried.

Its kind of like Basic Instinct, but not in a good way...

Wow, that guy's REALLY talented. To start from a wood framework and end up with that is cool as hell. I wonder how he forms the foam into all those detailed shapes... blades, chisels, dremmel tools?

It'd be the best display ever if they were from any line other than the movie...lol.
I know a lot of really hard work went into them, but because they're the movie versions I just can't say anything good about them.

Those displays just scream awesomeness!
Not a sheeple.
Think for yourself, don't let the magic TV box and social media do the thinking for you.
Question EVERYTHING!!
Just because you have a youtube review channel doesn't make you special.
I look forward to attending a Botcon soon only to settle matters with several idiots in person (yes this is a threat).

That is amazing. I do have to wonder what's going to happen should a fair breeze come along though. And I shudder to think of how much craft foam debris was flying around after all that was done.

I imagine it was quite a mess, and they probably will be still tracking pieces of it all over the house many months later

And I agree with the others, these are very well done!
