I'm a bit surprised that there hasn't already been word of a G2 set of Stunticons.
With Motormaster's trailer making him pretty much impossible to retool into another character, it seems like a decent option.

On the contrary, I think this style of Motormaster, with some retooling, could actually make a pretty good Thunderclash.

After Shadowstrip I really thought we'd see leaks for more of these spread out between different stores (like in Buzzworthy Bumblebee). Or maybe we have and just didn't realize it thanks to the new names.![]()
Emerje
I always thought that was more likely as a one-off. The odds of a G2 Motormaster have to be very low, and there's limited benefit from doing any others if they're not going to complete Menasor, right?
I don't know if I would call the odds "very low". We got SG Jetfire after all and Hasbro has always had a soft spot for G2 exclusives and Selects (to say nothing of some retail love).
Emerje
Only one of the Commander class figures has ever received a redeco so far, so even if "very low" is too hostile, the odds were never great. We've already had complaints about the difficulty in assembling a Combiner across mainline releases; I can't imagine the frustration in trying to collect G2 Menasor across retailer-exclusive capsules. Maybe there could be a gift set in the future, but I don't think it's very likely.
Oh I agree that spreading them across different retailers would be a bad idea, but hasbro doesn't really care about ease of access as long as they can say they did it. This is the same Hasbro that made three Titans Return Brainstorms all exclusives, made you go to three different retailers to get all four clones and made people jump through all sorts of hoops to get a decent set of Seekers twice.

I have honestly never understood the love for the eye-bleeding gaudy G2 recolors. Those things are genuinely unpleasant to look at.

It depend of which one. Regardless, blame the early 1990's where fluo and neon colors were in fashion.

In robot mode they definitely seem horrible, but I do like the G2 Stunticons in vehicle mode. They do pop to me, but I don't buy Transformers to leave them in alt-mode unless I duplicate them. I'm not buying two (4) sets of Stunticons. LOL

I loved the 90s. Best years of my life, especially the 2nd half. Ironically, it was the only time in life I wasn't into Transformers actively.
Anyway, I thought from the moment Legacy Dragstrip was unveiled that a G2 set was a given. Especially after Shadowstrip was also released.

Honestly I think that the G2 Stunticons are the least gaudy of the G2 recolors. Granted, I also like a lot of the G2 recolors

Have people really forgotten about how gaudy the late-1980s were? Just look at the 1988 Decepticon toy catalog with its eye-searing sea of hot pink, bright teal, neon purple, and more:

GI Joe got in on the action as well:

Its funny how fans look back and say "how awful", and I look back and just think..."Yep, that was normal" Although as a skater in Highschool, I stuck to normal Blue Jeans & Shorts, only had loud colored T-Shirts.
I know the Cobra H.I.S.S. (along with versions II and III) have been revisited, but I wonder never why the Septic Tank never has

That's pretty typical for a toy line to do though, once you run of main line things to do. Create new items with either gimmicks or outlandish paint jobs. It's a way of trying to keep a line fresh and offer new things to potential new audience, particularly if/when you run out of main core characters to do and the endless repaints of them.

I'm not a fan of a lot of the G2 colors/color schemes.
However, I can appreciate that they're different, even if I don't like them.
Nostalgia is probably the biggest factor/influence for me ever collecting TF, however, while the styles and trends of the 80's were good for that time, I can also recognize that some of it wasn't good, and was probably pretty bad.
Either way, I'm sticking to what I said before-- a set of G2 Stunticons would a logical, practical way to reuse the Motormaster mold. And would be a good way to reuse all 4 of the molds. I don't believe it would sell nearly as well as the original version, but that's also what would make it a solid candidate for being an exclusive.
Now, what I will say looks pretty bad, is this Tow Line...

The headsculpt is alright, but other than that, that's a pass for me, bro.

Can't wait to see that mold painted into a Cybertronian Tarantulas.
I hope they do actually make a black Hoist version of the figure and ToyHax makes some Robot Masters decals for it because I doubt Hasbro would make a RM Towline now unless they used the Japanese name Wrecker Hook.
He might actually look good paired with Road Hauler, but his green may be too pale for Tow-line.

Damn, now there's some memories. At one time, I had every single one of those. I see your point, but I still find the G2 recolors of the combiner teams far more appalling.

I would be all OVER some more G2 Stunticon repaints, more so for the limbs and less Motermaster. But it would a great opertunity to get a lil more life out of the molds, and it would give people a chance to grab the ones that they didn't find/pick up (like me)

As someone who only recently got into G2, but more specifically the G2 original characters, I have no qualms about a G2 repaint now. I've come to just enjoy and love it.
As for that Tow-Line, they kinda phoned that one in didn't they? It looks neat, but it really doesn't look like the Tow-line they want it to be.

It's more for the novelty of something that was originally unreleased in the case of the Stunticons, in addition to nostalgia. Didn't really prevent Walmart's Nightprowler from going on Clearance however...

Only thing I'd ask for is a tampograph of the orange and purple stripe going down the side and under the bolted on plates to make it look more like the original gone all Mad Max. They're different types of tow trucks so there's no perfect way of recreating the original, but maybe ToyHax can come up with something interesting.
