Oh yea, do the trick for a legal problem. Removable plugs work to get it past customs. No way would Megs make it to production here. Child safety laws would never allow for it.

And sure, you would buy UM, so would a lot of us. However, selling a couple of thousand to collectors who missed the boat on MP2 really is small potatos. In Japan, I hear UM sat on shelves for a damn long time.

What about a limited production run of MP Megs targeted at a mature audience, perhaps with buyer age restrictions?? Do you think that might fly??

Nope. No way. Megs is on every bad toy list in the US. I really cannot imagine Hasbro taking the risk of trying to put this into production.

Neither Magnus or Megatron are fiancially or legally viable options for Hasbro. Magnus would only appeal to a very small collectors market and Megatron breaks every toy safety law in the book. For Hasbro to release high spec collectors items like these they have to know they are going to sell enough units to make a profit, a limited run of Magnus for collectors simply wouldn't do that. Megatron would make the money but never get the green light to go in the shelves in the US.

Indeed, even if they were approved to be sold here, they'd be considered more collector's items than toys, which means they'd expect less product moving.

Which means they'd probably jack up the prices and make it so that it'd probably be cheaper just to import one from Japan.

MP Magnus got released here in Australia, I'm pretty sure he's still warming the bottom shelf of my local Target.
