Makeshift Classics?
I was wondering what are some non classic TFs that some of you have bought to use as classics?
Here are ones I was planning on using:
Energon Shockblast
Energon Swoop
Energon Bulkhead
Cybertron Red Alert
Cybertron Galaxy Force Vector Prime
Titanium Scourge
Armada Predacon
Classics Megatron from the 2-pack to use as Bludgeon
Movie Wreckage (he just looks so slaggin' sweet)
Cybertron Metroplex
Cybertron Sideways
Cybertron Soundwave
Energon Downshift
Transmetals Tarantulas
Energon Beachcomber
Energon Command Ravage
Cybertron Landmine
Energon Omega Supreme
Energon Sharkticon
Titanium G1 Ultra Magnus
Armada Cheetor
Armada Thrust
Primal Prime (when and if he comes out)

I had the same idea with Cybertron Blurr and Smokescreen, then I bought them. The quality is no where near Classics so I put them in a box in the back of my closet where they can hide in shame for all eternity.

I had hear Blurr sucked because you couldn't move his legs so I'm a bit Iffy about him and Smokescreen doesn't really look all that appealing to me but I may still get him, provided I hear some better reviews about him, if no one thinks he's a good figure then I won't bother getting him.

The legs on Blurr didn't bother me nearly as much as the huge pile of car fodder on his back that prevents him from standing on his own.
The alt mode isn't great either, his rear tires don't turn very well.
Smokescreen has gaps between his windows, roof and doors. The Windshield as a "shield" is lame. He comes apart fairly easy too (doors, .etc pop off).
I dunno man, after playing with classics I felt cheated on those two.

Ok, I scratched those 2 off the list. Something else I need is drones, anybody have a good suggestion for drones? I was thinking maybe a few waves of different color Cybertron Scrapmetals would make good drones for my Armada Unicron.

Try those "Transformatrix" knockoff Prime-like trucks from Dollar Tree stores for drones or expendable "red-shirt" style troops.
They are equipped with a laser rifle and feature detachable limbs for humorous battle-damage scenarios.

Nah, I want my Drones to have some posability and have some heavy weapons and the Scrapmetals have both so I think they'd be a prefect fit my comic I'm gonna do with my figures.

I am so glad I didn't buy those two now, I was pretty tempted to at one point.
As far as the thread topic goes, I guess I'd say the Energon Megatron I picked up a couple years ago was purchased solely because it looked so much like Galvatron

Have him already.....somewhere, but I don't like him to be honest, he's too stiff. I prefer ones with great robot modes and with good alt modes and I like it when they have good posability and I love nods and homages to G1 Characters, such as Bulkhead, Downshift and Shockblast from Energon.

Try putting the guns in his hands and using the ket to deploy the wings, should counterbalance or the key acts as a stand XD, I love my Blurr.JTKranix wrote:The legs on Blurr didn't bother me nearly as much as the huge pile of car fodder on his back that prevents him from standing on his own.

I don't know if you do any kitbashing or moding but I got the E Gal to mod into a cannon and just forgot to do it. I'll give it a whirl this weekend and let you know how it turns out. Oh, and you need drones? 100 Starscreams and as many different cans of spray paint your handware store can stock! There, problem solved!

ive put a couple in my classics display, thing is as cool as cyb soundwave and energon shockblast are, they did exsist as characters in those series, so im not takeing them out of thier spots.
cyberdtron downshift however, was toy onry, and TFCC comic but eh. i plan to repaint him into a true wheeljack. and ive had no gap or joint fall off problems with my smokescreen.
lastly energon towline is fillingin for ratchet. too bad i dont own the botcon versions, that would rock.
thing is, theres not enough cons that have a classic feel to them, that were just made as extra toys, and not already repaints. so im one of the ones hopeing for a bunch of seekers at botcon.

That's hilarious, I could just imagine the meeting where they decided that.
Bill: So I was driving to work today and a pebble flew up and hit my windshield. I started thinking and if that windshield weren't there BAM right in my face, plus my eyes would be all stinging and stuff when drving down the highway from all the draft and whatever.
Bob: Ah man, I love that story! You know what else I liked about that story? The fact we are supposed to be talking about Transformers! I think by now everyone knows that Energon is Latin for "We don't give a crap" but at some point someone is gonna' start catching on and we can't just do a bunch of repaints and give them new names. This new Cybertron line needs to be top notch.
Ted: WHAT!?! Name a time we did a repaint.
Bob: We've done a bunch but I'll give you an example: Armada Tidal Wave repainted into Energon Tidal Wave... and it was you that wanted to call it "Fiesta Tidal Wave". Seriously, Fiesta?
Ted: Well the colors were bright and it made me think of a party.
Bill: Anyways, I was thinking on Smokescreen we could... and now stay with me on this, use the windshield as a shield. I mean it's got the name shield built right in.
Bob: Yes! Could we BE any better Transformers makers!?!
Bill: I submit to you that we could not!
Ted: Can it be Fiesta Smokescreen?

Well I think I got the list about complete, when added to my list in my sig, of the figures that I'm gonna use in my comic. I like how the Scrapmetals look as underlings of Unicron, just wanna use them as mindless waves of attack bots that are capable of wiping out an entire planet's line of defense before their master arrives.

So no one can think of any other figures that could be makeshift Classics?
I was thinking Cybertron Mudflap might make a good Kup and Cybertron Unicron could make a good leader for the Scrapmetals.

Here are all of the figures I have deemed worthy of fufilling a 'Classics' spot:

The one I wish I had was Downshift in Wheeljack colors. Maybe Hasbro'll do a Classics repaint...

Well, this isn't as easily available, but any of the Vehicons from Beast Machines are pretty much made to be drones too. If you want heavy weapons, try the tank drones.

Meh, that's just not how I do things... As far as I'm concerned, a G1 homage does not a Classics make. We haven't designated the Landcross components as makeshift Energon figures, have we?

Hmm, never thought of using a aquad of Tankors but then again he's gonna be tough to find. And man Energon Downshift just looks so sweet, I get all hyper just looking at him. Counterpunch those pics of your classics are making me drool. I hope I can get all the figures I need so I can make a weekly comic using the figures so I can post it on Seibertron for everyones enjoyment.
Edit: I think the Scrapmetals would look very menacing moving in swarms on Cybertron destroying everything in their path like a plague of locusts, Especially if they were being overseen by Transmetal Tarantulas and some version of Blackarachnia, maybe TM2 or BM version.
