Alpha Base Robot is a Korean version of the Transformer Overlord, from the Transformers: Masterforce series. It's substantially different from the original. Some of the obvious changes include a completely different head, color scheme, and different shoulders.
The head and shoulders are actually stolen from Star Saber, from Transformers: Victory .
Like the original, Alpha Base Robot can transform from a jet and tank, to a robot mode, and then to a base mode. Two small Powermaster figures activate features, such as spring loaded guns and trap doors. There's a gun that fires missiles, claw arms, gun turrets, secret compartments and more.
This is a bootleg of amazing quality. If I didn't know it was made by Academy, i'd swear it was Takara. Everything goes together tightly, and transforms properly.
Alpha Base Robot comes in a HUGE Box, measuring 30" x 20" x 5". It comes with a sticker sheet, full color instructions, and a baggie of accessories.
This is a pretty rare toy. I've never seen another one like it. A suitable replacement if you can't find the original version of overlord.

little too differnt with the starsaber-esque head to be overlord properly but it looks like all the features and gimmicks are present and correct and allthough the colour scheme is (slightly) differnt looks great and coherent in all modes

Leave it to Dead Metal to have the word 'Pronz' in his signature.

ConDrewfus wrote:I've seen it a few time in eBay. I have always passed on it. It always seems smaller, not to scale with G1 Overlord. The only other differences that I know of are, is the head(it's Star Saber's), the shoulder, and chromed parts vs G1.
All in all, if you get for cheap, more power to ya. Post a review of your own, if you get it.

definitely.. It shouldn't be sold as expensive as some other KOs of it on eBay, because they are just that, KO's its the sign of the times I guess.. but 35.00 is reasonable for a large KO.. if it were a Dinobot KO or some other kind of Transformer KO, I would definitely be passing on it if it sold for more then 25.00...after all, they are Knock offs, and don't deserve as much respect as an original Hasbro toy.. that said, i support the KO market for those less fortunate or in money crunches but still want to fill in their collection with a reasonable facsimile..
jason jupiter wrote:the quality is very high...academy (the manufacturer) is now doing licensed gundam kits. comes with nice box and all parts, yeah the star saber head is funky but cool. i paid $100 for mine and thought THAT was a good price.
$35 shipped from korea seems too cheap. even if that's shipped the cheapest shipping method it would cost more that that. is the website/seller you are getting this from reputable?
