This sucks. I just got my masterpiece Starscream today, & when transforming it, I found something disturbing:

His right hand was missing fingers!!

Has anybody else had a problem like this with their MP Starscream? This is why I usually don't like buying Takara: just about every figure I have has some kind of problem, though usually it's not as severe as missing parts.

I already contacted BBTS to see what could be done, if anything, though if I were to guess, it would mean packing it up & shipping it back to them so they can send another that hopefully won't have that problem, which would mean I would have to wait another week or 2 before I get a good one, even though this one is in my hands now, ready to be played with, minus 3 fingers.

Unfortunately that is apparently a fairly common problem. I was lucky, mine came complete, but I know when he first came out alot of people mentioned receiving him minus fingers like that.

While many have complained that an online retailer has given them the finger, it is rare when the reverse is true: the online retailer has not given the customer the finger....s.

I dunno. I just think BBTS started the whole cap scare. No one was going to cap the MP-05s until BBTS started the customs scare. They probably would've made it over here just fine without the cap. I'm still scared that Toywiz may cap theirs. BBTS just left a bad taste in my mouth after that.

bbts has always done this, that's why they didn't bring the reissue megatrons over at first. however it is Hasbro who really started the scare by pushing they're power to help keep them from coming to the us unmodified.

you are a very very harsh individual towards everyone it seems. opinion is fine, but there's no need to be malicious about it.

Indeed. I have been very well pleased with their services before. I know this was in no way their fault, but....well.......it's sitting on my desk right now....& I want to mess around with it, apply some Kremzeek decals & such.....that sort of thing.....but more than likely I'll have to send it back & wait for another. It's kinda like getting your own presents for Christmas & agreeing to not open them untill that morning.....It's in my posession, & I could mess around with it, but I need to restrain myself & will more than likely have to wait another week to get it exchanged for one that does have fingers..... :BANG_HEAD:

You know, I was thinking about the cap issue today. Do you think that Hasbro wants the caps on Masterpiece Megatron so they can deny imported ones and then release the capped ones domestically? Don't know if I'm asking that the right way or not, but considering the number of people it seems order the MAsterpiece series and with the success (?) of Masterpiece Starscream, I thought Hasbro might try to get a slice of that sweet money pie. But who'd buy a modified one when you could order an unmodified one, right? So we have to stop or block the orders.
Sorry, I haven't been keeping up with this issue. A freind of mine says she knows a guy who is ordering unmodified Megatrons so I'm gonna get mine through her which would come through him, so I've ignored cap talk and such. Anyhow this was just a thought I had during the day. Forgive me if it's nonsense.

Please guys, can we keep on topic? This conversation's about defects in production...particularly MP Starscream.....not MP Megs's cap issue. There are plenty of other threads for that.

Whoa, and I just quit smoking today, and I don't get that frustrated over just words... sorry man.. you kinda went nutso in my opinion..

I don't know if I would buy that Megatron from BBTs or any other retailer thats gonna cap that figure, and as far as hasbro being part of a conspiracy to release megs here domestically?? well it just doesn't seem likely to me, the reason being that they would probably have to color MP megs a neon green, and make the handle a rescue orange..

I hate the orange cap thing, but there are stores who will ship them and import them without hinderence from customs, I mean with all the Iraq, terrorist stuff, border patrols for illegal aliens, drugs, ect..a toy shipment of robotic Megatron, that may or mayt not have an orange cap, is really not gonna be a customs priority.. so if those websites ship them to you with no cap.. but state that they will place them on there.. well..who will really know??

oh, and My MP starscream from HLJ came in fine, I just wish it would have had show accurate colors, and the original feet sculpt, but if I had to choose, i would choose the show accurate color scheme over the feet, those newer feet are okay, but the color sucks ass..its a Masterpiece Star Scream, not a Master piece Jet, the difference is that if your gonna make it a masterpiece of that particular transformer it should at least come with fingers and a correct paint scheme.

It's stuff like this that makes me wonder if it's better for certain Transformers to be manufactured in Japan, where the quality control is better. Of course, the cost would be higher.

i agree. takaras factory is tight lipped, and none of thier prototypes ever leak out, but theyre QC is horrible. i had no issues with starscream, but a few with my MP king exkiser, half of my microman came broken, my super fire convoys paint just flakes away. doesnt make much sence to me.

if hasbro and takaras factory are both in the same place in china, how does hasbo get better QC, yet no security, while takara gets the best security in the world, but no QC?

i know its a cost issue,(cost more to make at home in japan the in china) but if takara/tomy is truly only trying to make transformers geard twords adults now, does that cost diffrence realy matter that much?

Aside from one of the tail fins insisting it fall off every time the wind hit it, I had great difficulty in the pulling the right leg down when trying to transform him to robot mode.

I had just retrieved a screwdriver and was prepared to open up the leg to find out what the problem was (the left leg slid down easily) when I gave it another go, and pop! Down it slid. Revealing of course a nice little area where it looks like the leg had been glued, or some how fused, on the inside, locking the leg into place.

I had the exact same problem. I had to unscrew the leg to finally free it. On mine, I wasn't sure if it was glue or wet paint that caused the problem.

Thats because the Hasbro Security guy is making extra sweat shop money by double checking the TFs on the assembly line for hasbro, the security guy at Takara said Overtime?? and the Manager just looked at him and said No Comprende..LOL :grin:

Sad to say but cost is obviously an issue to takara, otherwise they would not have moved their production from japan at first, then to taiwan, macau and finally china. I do hate toys made in china due to their inconsistent quality but we can only keep our fingers crossed...Worst problem is there have been many KOs appearing in the market!! KOs like Optimus, Cassettes (frenzy and ravage), dinobot Swoop just to name a few.
