There are only a select couple characters I have multiple versions of, and Soundwave's one of them.

I really wanted to pass on this guy, but it appears I don't have a choice. Soundwave looks fantastic.

Is it just me or do the Japanese Proto Forms look more detailed than ours...

Also MP3 Soundwave is awesome, I hope to see it in the US.

I'm not big on the protoforms but I have to say, for whatever reason, the Japanese versions look a lot better.

Is that supposed to be a completed Soundwave? While the mold looks pretty good, I want to see the rest of the paint app. Also why does he look like his cassette door is made of white felt?

He's no longer a cassette player. For the new millennium, Soundwave transforms into an MP3 player. People have wondered what his cassettes would be; it seems they are earphones or speakers and the like.

btw, the image on BBTS shows a clear opening panel instead of the fuzz that reportedly is the SD card insert slot, but theirs is a prototype picture for preorder slot.

The head is different. I read through a similar post on a different forum and they said that on the back of the US SS Protoform package the head is the same, but the actual toy head is moe like the movie bug-a-licious one.

Which makes me believe these are the original vanity shots of the figures from Hasbro. Which means they've been photoshopped into oblivion.
