I mean loads of people know him and he hasn't received an update yet, well he hasn't even received a toy yet.

He is super obscure, but BotCon and TFCC have tried to bring him into plastic a few times, on top of that every time his name falls people seem to wet their pants.

The whole tweet just screams of something that's going to be over-hyped, and Defcon is super over-hyped.

I'm with Sabrblade. The wording of the tweet suggests:

(A) It's a character that already has a figure (that needs to be "UPDATED"), not a character that's never had a figure.

(B) It's a well-known and popular character that EVERYONE know. Not some lesser-known character that is well-known among hardcore fans and collectors, but a character that is well-known among ALL Transformer fans.

That would rule out Stampede and Devcon. I think Soundwave is a better bet, or at least on the right track.

I don't think it's Soundwave or Wheelie. They have had updates. While it's debatable how good any of those updates are, the wording of the tweet makes me think of someone who is really due for a new toy like someone who only has had one at all.

Maybe Broadside? Is he that well known?

Scorpinok? Fort Max?

Did they say that all 5 of them will be deluxe sized? Cannonball and Ferak are, so can we say there's a voyager sized figure on the way? 1 of the Knights, maybe?

The tweet is too vague, even for something that's intentionally vague. When they say update, do they mean at all, only in G1-esque lines, what? Plus, when they say everyone, how literal are they being? Does that include non-fans? What about people who are casual fans or simply fans of a single series?

Scorponok has had an update(Energon), just not a G1 update.

Also, Unicron has a had several updates(Armada, Transformers 2010, Generations, Prime to name a few).

I would be royally disappointed if it just turned out to be someone as mainstream and regular as Megatron.

Logically, this character would make sense to be one of the knights, since all the pirates will likely me Squadron X characters, that would leave the knights to have this more known character within its ranks.

Well I don't even know one of the knights so that "Everyone knows him" part would be kinda misleading. What's wrong with another Megs? They are releasing 10 Optimuses a year and no one complains.
