New move, what do you think?

Postby neils1 » Fri Aug 03, 2007 9:48 am

Hi people,

Well, this is the first time that I have ever used this web site, so please excuse me.

I live in the UK and am bit of a transformers geek to say the least, being born in 78, and had the pleasure of watching the very first animated film as a kid and have been a fan ever since. I recently completed my collection of all the animated series on DVD including the TARAKA lot.

I wanted to talk about the new movie. Peoples opinions of the new film may vary from good to bad and even moderate, I thought that the new movie was great but too long in parts and missing some of the old characters that I'd have liked to have seen that I hope will be included in a sequel if there is to be one?

From the moment I sat at the cinema seeing bumble bee parked next to an old VW beetle to the new Optimus Prime amongst other parts of the film, I had a feeling that it was going to be good - I am also glad that they used the voice of Peter Cullen and only hope that they can use some of the old cartoon animated people and voices that were used in the original cartoon film in the sequel.

What I was disappointed with is some of the old characters like Grimlock, Hot-Rod, Ultra magnus, soundwave + tapes, astrotrain to name but a few were not included. If a sequel were to be filmed I would love to see the dinobots kick ass and see how the director can develop the story from the first film.

A job well done I say! :D

The only thing is this is a new continuity not the origional G1. I don't think Grimlock, Hot Rod Astrotrain etc etc were in any other series' bar G1, so don't get your hopes up. This has no linage to G1, it is a brand new linage so if there is a sequal expect some familiar "names" to reappear but not as you knew them from G1, consider it a recycling of names, they did it in every TF series since G1 but they were not the same characters. Remember this isn't G1 and not associated with it one bit. You're more likely see Grimlock as K-9 from Dr. Who than a robotic Tyranasaurus Rex like in G1.(well that last bit was an exaggeration).

P.S. welcome to the mad-house that is Seibertron.com

Welcome to the forums!

And I think from yor perspective, you were expecting too much a movie that is as close as possible to the G1 universe, so you were somewhat disappointed. You shouldn't, the movie is AMAZING. Think of it more as an introduction of more to come. There's always the sequels.

I saw it twice :)
