I got my Action Master Thundercracker sealed graded from UKG which gave me 70-80% grade with two gold stars for rariety. I think it was a good idea.

What i do is i have my primary transformers which i will never ever sell as they mean the world to me which are:
my original Scorponok
G2 Skyquake
G2 Megatron
Boxed Scorponok

and a couple of others. The only thing iregret when i began collecting was that i got rid of so many of my toys i had when i was a child.

As to why i choose to ignore the other versions was because they are simply to many to count and i wanted to focus it on the 1980-1990s TFs which are the best toys ever made.

The reason Fortress Maximus is so expensive as he is both rare and absolutely massive compared to all the other transformers he is the largest single toy robot probably ever made. Someone will have to check that with me.

I am determined to get one this year though as he is the only transformer i have never had.

Not even close. Robot droids from teh 80s like electronic Max Steele tower over Fort Max and weigh over 30lbs.

More recently there was a Maxinger figure that was 3 feet tall and weighted 30 lbs.

:BOOM: First, FORGET ABOUT THE AFA BULL. The "AFA" grading is the most ridiculous way to overprice any junk for ridiculous amount. Jeez, I could I could fart in a bottle, pay the AFA fee, and sell said fart for over 9000$.

:BOOM: Second, FORGET ABOUT BOXED. The whole point of a toy, especially a Transformers toy, is to touch it, transform it, even play with it a little (hide if you need to, you big baby... that what I do!). Then, display it in some awesome poses as a robot for a while, then display it in it's alternate form for a while. None of this is possible if you leave the toy in box. ARE YOU A FRIGGIN STORE? NO? SO LEAVE THE BOX! Also, if you get it boxed or leave it sealed so it can increase in value, there's less retarded ways to invest your money. If the goal is to make MONEY, go to a bank to invest or something.
*breathes*
All that to tell WHY BUY A TRANSFORMERS SEALED/BOXED at outrageous prices? For older toys, the prices are almost as ridiculous like the AFA grading. If the toy on Ebay is boxed/sealed and it don't really increase by much the normal price, go for it. If not, buy it loose.

:BOT: :CON:

So... To compare and see what TF are the most expansive, compare the ones that are LOOSE but are COMPLETE and is GOOD CONDITION.

So far, what I see on Ebay are:
--Wheelie and Cyclonus from botcon (get both for 1000$)
--G1 Transformers Brazil Estrela Minicar Black Brawn Jipe (that sucker will go for 775$)
--G1 Transformers Brazil Estrela Minicar Blue Windcharger (same here)
--G1 Transformers Brazil Estrela Minicar Maroon Red Gears (only 675$)
--G1 Transformers Pre-rub Soundwave and Buzzsaw w Custom Case (maybe the awesome custom case increase the price, still the thing is worth 600$)
--Transformers Beast Wars Transmetal Scavenger Leg Version, Super Rare "Name on Leg" version (600$, lol!)
--Lot G1 Pretenders - MONSTRUCTOR - Complete (460$)
--DIACLONE Red SUNSTREAKER Complete (450$)

And so on...
See? No Overlord, Fortress Maximus yet... And just for kicks, here's the most expansive one, no mater what:

http://cgi.ebay.ca/Transformers-G1-FORT ... 19c1f1690d

And the one in "all categories"

http://cgi.ebay.ca/Biorobo-Robot-Bioman ... 2eb185430c

You might want to chill out a bit, MISB collector's are just as valid as MIB and loose collectors. I collect a combo of both, and there is no right or wrong to either, this is a hobby and hobbies are supposed to make the people involved in them happy. If my buddy enjoys collecting misb and sending items to the AFA, why would you care enough to disagree with it?

I feel the same way mostly, but there is something about seeing a high grade AFA item in person...

totally pristine as if it just rolled off a factory line. Its like capturing a piece of history and preserving it.

Well, there's only ONE TF toy I keep sealed in box. ROTF Human Alliance Bumblebee with Sam Witwicky.
Why?
Have you seen the thing? The whole box, the presentation, the way everything in it is displayed, is BEAUTIFUL. I can't bring myself to destroy such an incredible ensemble. Of course, if I can find another one that is cheap, or even the Hunt for the Decepticon one (that have a less awesome box) I will get that second one in a heartbeat to unpack it and transform it, and display it...

That's the exception that confirm my rule.

I had my ActionMaster Thundercracker graded by UKG Graders as it was my only MISB Transformer left.

Why not keep the toys sealed? they have many benefits, the toy is protected from damage and discoloration and also many boxes have fantastic artwork which i don't want to spoil. If your a serious collector and know where to look (charity shops/other places) you can get MISB Transformers for under £5 my Mum got me a MISB Hungurr and Hoist once when I was 13.

Don't knock the economic value as MISB Transformers can be used in later life to buy houses/cars etc... or for retirement. Currently I am selling of some of my collection for my trip to Egypt next week. Feel free to look.

I would beware of buying lots of transformers from America as you can get badly mauled by import duty/handling fees. Which makes the tyo sometimes double the price you bought them for.

It only ever happens with EBay though. Never with other TF sites.

Blasphemer! He does not look kinda ugly. He looks marvelous in retro TF style and i would REALLY like to own one.

Some day HasTak should entertain the notion of making this figure for retail or exclusive.

There were actually two G1 Unicron prototypes made. The first and more well-known one by Hasbro, and a one derived from that mold created by Takara. It had different detailing, and would have come with a stand and get this: a moon. Both never made it to production.

Another attempt was made with Beast Wars Neo, but again, not past prototype stage. It was roughly Ultra sized and was basically a robot with the Northern Hemisphere on his back à la Cybertron Primus.

I think it was the takara one i saw. They should reissue that,

Anyway back to the discussion, My most expensive Transformer toy to date was my Giftset Menasor figure which was £220 off EBay. Long before the reissues came out.
