this mentality is whats killing economy.......

Supply and demand are killing economy?

no...its your short sighted mentality of buying whatever from whoever at whatever costs. let me give you an example. facts. everytime a super walmart opens, 1.5 jobs are loss due to downsizing from other companies or just straight closure. walmart is able to supply the LOWEST prices on goods because it pays its employees minimum wage with minimal hours(pretty much poverty level). guess where those ppl working at walmart turn to to make up the rest of the cost of living.....the government. or straight to the point....our hard earn taxes in the form of EBT/welfare. i support the local business that works hard to make a living.

did you know that walmart is also the BIGGEST toychain in the world also.....look at how many toys r us that has closed down due to walmart......being a TF collector....would you rather be shopping at toys r us or walmart? yea thought so.

if you think buying from a scalper has no negative impact....then why are we constantly having new threads about scalpers every week? so no....supply and demand is not killing the economy....but your short sighted mentality of buying from whoever for whatever cost is......

so heres a word from a once great leader

"scalpers must be stopped.....no matter the cost"

er....or something like that.... :P

You're comparing the monster that is Wallmart to a single person working (hard) to scalp. Once again, I don't actually like scalping, but I will admit that it is hard work to be effective at it. US culture is based around the idea of merit and hard work, that's what's happening here and it's legal too. Simple as that, Burn is right. It's easy to agree with your system as long as it works for you, it gets tough when you're not benefitting anymore and disagree. So society isn't perfect!

You can do three things logically:
A) Fight the way things are by playing it legal, make sure the market changes permanently by going in to politics and try to pass a law. You're free to do so.
B) Fight the way things are by complaining on the internet.
C) Don't bother with it.

I vote for C ... because at the end of the day, is it REALLY hurting anyone? I mean REALLY hurting. Are lives left in ruin? Are jobs lost?

I think, for most subjects, this is the most popular choice.

That's one way of looking at it. Here's another: those figures, the rare and special ones that only collectors would appreciate, might get bought by clueless parents who just grab whatever's on the shelf, or by little kids who are going to take them home and destroy them, ruining them forever. Instead, this "scalper" rounds them up and ensures that they go to loving homes of collectors where they will be appreciated for many years.

Also, there are a lot of collectors who don't live near a Walmart, a TRU, or a Target. They may live in a rural area where they have to drive hours to get to any stores. Or they may live in another country where the figures aren't even available. This "scalper" eliminates all geographic barriers to collectors, allowing collectors anywhere in the world to have access to figures that would otherwise be unavailable to them.

"I, a devoted "transfan" enjoy my hobby. My hobby is collecting transformers. I, however, do not have infinite financial resources and so hereby pledge to NEVER purchase a transformer that is currently available to all consumers in the market from any seller whose clear intention in purchasing said transformer was to re- sell it at an inflated price, thereby preying on my desire to enjoy my hobby."

this is what the OP requests that we do....why should we have to pay a marked up price for a toy that is readily available to the market? he is just asking that we NOT buy from scalpers.

Replying only to the Donnie707 stuff:

1-Walmart charges less than toys r us for transformers toys. so why shop at TRU when you can save money & got to walmart instead.

2-Walmart has different levels of jobs. not everyone who works for walmart makes minium wage. with everything in life, depending on your education, job experience, working hard ethic & job refernces, you can make next to nothing at a job or a lot of money at a job. also the longer your employed at a job,the more raises you get & job advances.

3-Do we have any proof that those mom & dad tiny stores pay their workers more than walmart pays it's workers. how about medical coverage,Raises & job advancement? I'm sure walmart offers better medical coverage, more raises & more job advancement compared to a super tiny store does. you can only advance so far when a store is small. most small stores I know don't keep their workers over a year because they don't want to give them raises.

4-It is not walmarts fault stores close down. they close down because they over charge for their merchandise. walmart should be praised not mocked for selling stuff cheap to people/customers. people shop at where they get the most savings.

5-Do we have any proof walmart workers get paid so little they qualify for welfare,EBT,Food stamps,etc..?

So ... deathy's responsible for the falling economy?

Wonder if I can convince the Bay haters to blame deathy for the movies as well. Image
Just laugh it off deathy, there's clearly no point arguing with these people. Apparently we're not allowed to buy things without first seeking their approval.

Easy... easy people. We must remember what perspective from which we're coming. Some people have not and will never care about people who work for a company like walmart. Some people don't want to hear about how or where from which these products come. What's real to them is what's tangible.

However, donnie_707 is accurate. But that's only because I know how walmart operates. I know how Hasbro operates. I know how McDonalds operates. Why? Because reading is fundamental.

But that's not piggy backing off the Occupy [everywhere] Movement. They're trying to bring attention to the absolute real lifestyle of the bankers we (the other 99% of our population) bailed out. Even our children bailed them out because eventually they'll inherit the 100 trillion (or whatever unnatural amount it is) owed. Check this out...

Yes, yes... thread hijacked.

What exactly does this have to do with scalpers?

why are we going off topic & mentioning walmart?

why are we getting so excited & bent out of shape over a plastic toy?

you, seriously need to learn how to treat fellow seibertron board members with respect & dignity.

and you need to go do some research yourself if you want to know why walmart is the way it is instead asking 1 million questions that independant researchers have already answered about the impact walmart has to the community......and you seriously need some help with reading comprehension if you dont know why i used walmart as an example.....again....its the mentality of "buy from whomever at whatever cost and not caring about the negative impact"

I've done plenty of researh on Walmart. i'm fully aware of the situation.

Donnie_707,has still failed to explain why he felt the need to go off-topic. by complaining about walmart & how this relates to the scalper discussion in this thread.

Donnie, mentioned the pay wage walmart pays it's workers. he mentioned competition stores getting shut down or down sizing. he mentioned walmart workers get welfare/ebt/food stamps. none of this has anything to do with scalpers.

I don't get it,why all the walmart dis-like? are we assuming every walmart worker gets under-paid thus he's a scalper by default? are we assuming under paid walmart store employees run around the store grabbing the stuff before the customers?

are we mad at walmart having so many 24 stores. which make it convenient for customers/scalpers to shop early in the morning.

are we assuming, that everyone who loses a job due to walmart moving in their area. can't find another job, thus they become scalpers. sneaking out at night or early in the morning grabbing all the transformers toys & selling them on ebay for scalper inflated prices.

Alright, we've had our fun, probably should have done this a few pages back.

So let's sum it up. Don't like scalpers? Don't buy from them. Find other collectors near you and work together and help each other out (and you can do that with our sightings forum).

Don't give a toss about scalpers? Carry on then!

But either way, scalping isn't illegal. Like it or hate it, that's your opinion, let's all learn to accept the opinions of others.
