In the past starscream had always wanted to lead the decepticons in dotm he had his chance to take out megatron when he was wounded an weak it prolly was never an idea but if it did happen...I wonder how the movies for the future or even the 3rd movie woulda played out? thoughts?

In the movie-verse Starscream isn't really played out as a traitor, all of the moments that could be that, are just fan misconceptions and guesses, I'm not sure about the comics though, having never read them.

Honestly, I think in the first film and in RotF if Starscream tried something, Megatron would have handed him his afterburners. But in DotM, Megatron was clearly weak and given Starscream's aerial abilities and firepower, he could have destroyed Megatron. One on one in a fist fight Megatron would have still beaten him, but in a firefight, with Screamer's speed and firepower, no way. I think it would have been a good addition to have Screamer betray Megatron to show loyalty to Sentinel. Then have Megatron either be destroyed and cast out into space (thus setting up the 4th film) or have him briefly join Optimus (as he did in the book) to defeat Sentinel. But, in the end, Bayverse Screamer was a punk and he died as such.

Well, Starscream was dead by the time Megatron betrayed Sentinel in the film. >:oP

Yeah, seeing Starscream would definitely be interesting to see. But, I kinda liked Megatron in charge, against Optimus and how they set it up in DotM

With all the abuse Megatron gives him, his sarcastic remarks, and that hint that taking up the leadership role in the first part of RotF was largely for personal satisfaction, I don't think it's totally unreasonable for this Starscream to want to take out Megatron. However, I don't think he had any real opportunity in the movies to do so.

If he actually participated in the F-22 strike in the first movie and got to act as Decepticon leader in RotF, then maybe a chance could happen in DotM, but not as they are now.

Yes. The turn of events I suggested are hypothetical. >:oP
