Yea, that title up there is not a joke or trolling title, Takara Tomy really is teaming up with the New Era Cap Company to bring us Cap Transformers. Just in case you don't know, New Era Caps provides all US Major League Baseball teams and their Minor League teams with their field caps. So what exactly are these Cap Transformers? Well exactly what it says on the tin, Transformers that turn into caps. Thee might also be actual Autobot and Decepticon caps one can wear in this team-up, but we don't know yet.

Planet Iacon have posted images on their facebook page showing off concept art, and prototypes of the toys in question, which you can view by clicking [url]here[/url] or any of the mirrored images below:

These recall memories of the shoe Transformers Takara did with Nike a few years ago, which also used the same mold with different colours for both Optimus Prime, Megatron, and Ultra Magnus. Maybe these will also sell out the day they hit stores and make it into the mainstream news reports like the shoes. We'll keep you updated ether way!

These at least look better than the shoe-formers. I actually like the disign. I'm sure someone can customize this into a Cosmos

These look WAY better than the shoes. The shoes were totally shell-formers. With these, the robot sort of retains some of the look of the hat, especially with the brim-feet. And the robots have a cool stylized look. I'll import one (or both) of these if the price is reasonable.

I'm not sure why I like these. I think it's the brim feet and the stylized chest. Damn these look awesome in robot modes. I think I'll get both! But where will they fit in...

lol, well I suppose after the Nike Label TFs, this was inevitable. They actually do look surprisingly good in bot mode, but I'm not really interested in getting them.

Okay, this is very cool.

New Era is a local company, here in the Buffalo area. I don't wear a lot of hats, but when I do, they're usually New Era. In fact, my little sister got me a New Era Autobot hat for my birthday a few years back. I've been scaling back a lot on my collecting, but I like toys that I can blend in with the rest of my stuff. I'm leaning towards getting the Decepticon one so I can put it next to my real Autobot hat on my hat shelf. :grin:

Very shell-formeresque but it's a successful design over all (at least from that angle).

The bot mode looks sharp and i really have a soft spot for novelty alt modes like this. For example: Ejector or my transforming Cherry Coke can.

The cap is a much better design than the shoe mold,IMO. I'm not really a sporty guy and the shoe mold didn't work for me. If they did a pair of checkered Vans then maybe i would have been stoked. The cap former is a little more neutral in that sense.
