"Classics" Dinobot Slag

Postby ptitvite » Sun Aug 05, 2007 4:25 pm

Here ya go...another kitbashed Dinobot in the collection.
Now to let you guys know that I have the Rhino DVD's so I have no clue what the true color scheme is since the remastered version has so many errors. but anyways, I'll keep it like that.

Enjoy!

Nice nice nice ... but I can't be too impressed while you've got Sludge there. He's just far too distracting. :P

Can't help it. I've always loved the Sludge mold and you just made it full of awesomeness.

Slag though does look fantastic and I love the sword.

Will you be doing a G1 Swoop at all?

 lol the sword is from Lego Knights! Since I took them ratchet joints to put them on Slag (shoulders)

I did Swoop last year. I'm thinking of restarting him to be more G1.
Anyways, here's the link to the gallery on Transtopia

Gotta say I love it all. The lego sword doesn't stick out as lego, which is a good thing. How'd you make his legs?

By the way, are you gonna try a g1-er ish Grimlock?

Thanks! As for the legs...I took the remainings of ??? and fixed it inside the Slag crotch. Needed to dremel the metal to do this. I have so many junkers that I just take what I find to build my kitbashes... but I guess any articulated deluxe figure parts could do it as long as you have the balljoints. As for Grimmy, if I do it, he's the last one on the list as I would like to do a more G1 accurate Swoop.

Wow... he looks fantastic. Personally, I think the head and thighs would have looked better in black, but then I'm not a 'toonie (that is, the toys are always my primary point of reference). I really like the way you've used the rear feet as heels. Is that a conscious choice, or is it necessary for the stability?
And what did you use for the hips? You said you used the remains of ???... I'm not sure I've heard of him. :P

Thanks for the support people and the hilarious jokes! :P
I use the rear feet as heels only to give more stability and to "cheat" as it gives about 1cm of height to the figure.
Grimlock, Sludge and Slag have the dino shells in their back when in bot mode so they tend to fall on their backs.
I did the same with sludge. It gives alot more stability and can give them alot more heroic poses.

I took him appart. I think he's gonna be a pain in the ass to do. The hardest part is to improve the legs and keep the same transformation.
