Since I spent so much on them as a kid, I'd need to translate this into today's dollars. However, this year alone has been over $350.

^ Hopefully not.

I dunno how much I've spent, probably somewhere in the $2000-$3000 range. My girlfriend keeps telling me I should insure them.

About $1700 since April. Collection now stands at 141 TF's from all lines. Some of them are originals from my childhood, maybe 5 or 6 of them. and that's not counting my 6 original mcdonalds transformers that turn into fries, a quarter pounder, and a box of chicken nuggets. Still my favorites!

Which begs the question: why spend money on TF toys if you're going to regret it? :-?

So far I've spent about 300 euros and I'm happy with my purchases - even though two of them turned out to be defective at first. Luckily I got them exchanged.

roundabouts $500. I focus mainly on the Classics lines and the movie lines. I do have some older TF toys somewhere in my pad, but the old technology kinda bums me out, so I focus mainly on the newer stuff. While I might get blasted for having that point of view, I have to stand firmly behind it. Don't get me wrong; G1 is definitely 'the ****' for starting this wonderful thing that we all enjoy. But, I have to admit, the tech of the 80s and 90s can't touch these newer lines.

Actually my wife is surprisingly cool about my collecting. When I told her the sad news that I would probably never have complete collection of classics due to the con exclusives she encouraged me to go ahead and get it. Glad I did now. If not for her I would have probably missed out on getting them at their original price, and would now be kicking myself as I selled out even more to get them off Ebay.

Net or gross? I've aggressively bargain-hunted whenever I've bought TFs, and I've frequently bought lots or even part lots. I can sell off individual and rebuilt toys and recoup most of my losses. I also started customizing, and a good custom can go for quite a bit more money than it cost to create, and I consider the work put into recreational. I thus have more Transformers than I ever had as a kid, and I've lost almost no money doing it. For a while there, I'd even made money! Kids, don't try this at home. I did my buying well before the movie came out, and a lot of my selling just after.

Just since June -over $300 on movie figures. Maybe another $100 picking up Cybertron and Classics on clearance.

I can't even estimate the grand total though.

This is a question I refuse to ask myself. For if I do, I'll end up realizing what else the money could have gone to. (Such as a car, house, education, etc.) This would probably be followed by a fit of uncontrolable insane laughter along with me finding residence in a wonderful place with pillow rooms and free fancy shirts.
