Transformers Collecting

Postby CMP » Thu Nov 08, 2007 2:24 am

Hi. I finally, went ahead, and signed up for this form. I have been lurking for some time.

Anyway, thanks to the movie I have gotten back into TF.

I first got into TFs thanks to Beast Wars. I used to have a good amount of them. But, their lost or broken. Looking back I wish I wouldn't have take better care of them.

So, I was wondering what TFs that you would recemmend.

Thanks.

all of the lines are good it depends on your taste and wallet. Some people collect figures from all of the lines and some select a couple. I selected only 3 of the lines.

Welcome to Seibertron and watch out there are nuts on this board.

If you have been out of touch for a while, I would recommend first going to a wikipedia and reading up on the differnt lines. Then check out the galleries here to put a face to the name, so to speak.

Classics are uber-sweet, especially Prime and the always sexy Jetfire.

If you have the cash, you should get yourself a MP/20th Anniversary Prime, it's sa-weet.

Other than that, anything you really like. It's all a matter of personal taste.

I stupidly ignored the classics line when I 1st started collecting. It's great!

For me, the gem line is the Binaltech/Alternators line. Off to youtube you go ...

Search for "on the prowl." Those are Alternators/Binaltech toys.

I'd provide a link, but I'm at work ... no access to youtube here.

After that, it's off to ebay you go! Don't overpay, so do your homework before going nuts on buying the older stuff.

Also, check out Cybertron Optimus Prime w/ Wing Saber. They combine together for Sonic Wing mode ... pure awesomeness.

If you decide to collect classics, I can hook you up with somebody who sells them at a decent price. Just let me know.

Would you mind PM'ing me with that contact information. I recently got into the classics line and have Jetfire and just found a voyager Optimus sitting on a Kmart shelf on Wednesday. Haven't seen any others around and would love to get them.

Thanks!

Since you said you liked the movie, some movie figures I'd recommend would be:

Leader Class Prime: Awesome
Leader Class Brawl: Guns, Guns, Knives then more Guns!
Deluxe Classic 77 and Concept 09 Bumblebee: They're both fun, the 09 is, in a word, amazing.
Deluxe Dropkick: Pretty damn sweet, and original
Voyager IronHide: Fracking Suh-Weet!!

There are others that are also pretty awesome in the movie line, Bonecrusher, Barricade, Wreckage,- but those one's listed are really the ones that jump out and scream, "look how freaking cool I am!"

Also you might want to start checking Family Dollar stores, lately they've been carrying Metroplex and Galaxy Force Optimus Prime for 19.99 , and I gotta say the Cybertron Galaxy Force Optimus is just all kinds of badass. Huge! Wings! Jetpack! Huge alt and bot modes. Incredible figure for just 20 bucks.

Welcome back to the hobby, welcome to Siebertron, and like what was said, watch out for the nuts. :D

As already mentioned, you should buy what you are into. A good thing to do would be to watch the cartoons and then decide if you want to collect those lines. I, for instance, am not a big fan of any of the cartoons from between G1 and the new movie, so have very few toys from any of those lines (Beast Wars, RID and the Armada/Energon/Cybertron trilogy). When it comes to lines that don't have an accompanying show, however, I personally just get the ones I think look cool (which btw, includes ALL classics figures).

Since everyone here collects different lines for different reasons, I suggest taking a look at the Toy Gallery. You should be able to find what you like there.

Personally, I like G1 related/homage toys. I keep some MIB but most of them I open. I love the Alt/BT line, Classics/Universe line.

Thanks.

I really like the Classics line, also, the Alternators/Binaltech line. Which, I don't have any one of them.

Anyway, the Classics are good. I can't wait for Classics 2.0 or whatever its called. But, I heard it won't be until late 2008.

I have most of the Classics that I want, Grimlock, Starscream, Ultra Magnus, Astrotrain, Rodimus. But, their still a few, Optimus Prime, though I have Ultra Magnus, I think this mold is just to cool. Others in the Classics line that I'm looking for Mirage, Ramjet, and the Constructicons. Skywrap, I may get, I got only Ultra Magnus on Ebay, so I may look for Skywrap. As for Jetfire, I got him on Ebay, so he should be coming soon. I'm happy to know I made a good choice.

The Classics line wasn't that big of a series. So, I can't wait for Classics 2.0!

As far as Movie toys. I have Leader Class Optimus Prime, Bumblebee '08, Jazz, Ratchet, Blackout, Bonecrusher, and Wreckage.

I also, got a few of those Target Scout repaints.

I have a few Armada, Energon, and Cybertron figures. For Armada I have Megatron, and a few others, and some form Energon. I like the Cybertron line. That Leader Class Prime, looks very cool.

I have a few Beast Wars figures, to. But, not alot. I have Cheetor, which I think is the Fox Kids repaint. (Non-Transmetal BTW.) Waspinator, which I know is a Fox Kids repaint. (Non-Transmetal to.) Optimus Primal, Rattrap, and Taraules(Sp?) 10th Anniversary. Transmetal Waspinator. I think that is it.

I do have some Beast Machines. Mostly, just the Vehicon. Blastcharge(Sp?) and Thrust.

Right, now the lines I'm interested in are:

Classics
Unverise
Movie
Cybertron
Beast Wars

Thanks you, all your help.

I am currently collecting Cybertron. Just like you I got hooked after the movie figures came out. If you think about it they are like alternators only cheaper.

After seeing a few episodes on monkeybartv I like the 3d rendering used for the transformers, unlike energons cell shading. Also I think the transformations are simple thanks to the cutscenes.

If you can find any of the Alternators at Wal Marts, grab any of them. A few weeks ago I was driving home from Baltimore and hit a WM looking for Cars toys for my son. I ended up grabbing a Sunstreaker and Ricochet Alternator. They had Tracks, Rollbar, and I think one other, but at $20 a piece, two was my max. I've gone back a couple times since, and no alternators, no Classics (missed out on both Prime and Jetfire).

Most people don't like them, but the Star Wars Transformers are pretty cool. I got Han/Chewie, and I love it. Many of them a clunkers, but there's some cool ones there.

The way I collect mine is really simple. I just buy the ones i like. I figure if you dont like it why waste your money? Now if your collecting for profit, thats different. But a true fan cares not for the worth of the item as long as he/she is happy with the collection.
