Oversized Superion Repaint

Postby eggshen » Tue Sep 26, 2006 2:44 am

Finally got to work on this guy and finished him in little over a week. I could have swore there was a repaint section or is that in main site only? The paints I used: Fusion black, red, and white. Tamiya gold, grey, orange, black and yellow. Model Masters red and gun metal. Delta over at repro labels is making me an oversized sticker sheet so when those come in I'll post some more pics. Anyhoo, hope you like him.

How he came:

Finished!

Crap man, if you didn't say you painted that I'd think that bootleg normally looked as good as it does now!

Hey thanks everyone,

Skullgrin, I want to do that to a normal size Superion first, cause if i screw up I'm pretty much screwed, cause he's not easily replaceable.

TM2, I bought him at toyhell.com. If you ever decide to order from him, make sure you read his shipping policies first and ask if he actually has one in stock.

Thanks Dev!

Whoa, that's awesome. But I agree w/Skullgrin, he needs a faceplate. Still, nice paint job.

In the cartoon, Superion doesn?t have a face plate. He has an oversized chin guard. that covers his entire lower jaw, but only his lower jaw. And, even then there are shots where you can see his mouth, as seen in nthis screen capture?
Image
If you look closely, you can see the line of his mouth, and the shadow of his lower lip. Also, his appearance in TF: More than Meets the Eye also depicts him with a full face, with mouth. Therefore, there is no need for this model to have a face plate.

What kind of paint did you use? This looks brilliant!
If I try to paint something white it always looks bad, because the paint doesn't hold on the parts...and if it works, you can see the original colors shining through...

I used Krylon Fusion White. I had the same problem when spraying over red. It made it look creamy red. The way to fix that is to use grey primer first and then spray paint it. Also, sand down the pieces you want painted if your having trouble with the paint holding.

Thanks and I'm glad you like.

That and the Big Ol' Yellow E in the gut.

Looks great man. Now I might just have to do that to mine but since I have the oversized G2 Brute it might be a good idea to do mine in G2 colors.

Beautiful repaint!

I also like the oversized Bruiticus! How hard are those Oversized KO Combiners to get a hold of?

Hey thanks everyone. It was worth the time for sure. Now Bruticus has someone to fight.

Funny thing about the yellow E is that's how I thought Superion always was. Wasn't until recently I looked at a real Superion and OH LOOKY....no yellow E. Oh well. LOL.

There are two versions of Bruticus. One that comes with normal colored chest plate, feet, fist, and Onslaught cannons. That one is tougher to find. I found this one on ebay. If you wanna know more about him you can check out this page..
