If you're collecting with no plans to sell for profit, I say open everything you have. You may as well, it's not like keeping them pristine in box will do you any good when you're dead. It might do your kids some good, but unless your collection is massive there's a good chance they'd just give it away to charity or donate it to a landfill project.

The toy can still deteriorate even in sealed box.

Unless you lock it under vacuum, protected from any kind of radiation.

I don't think many collectors are going to get themselves a lead lined vacuum chamber just to store their Transformers.

If they DID then they clearly wouldn't need to sell them for profit in the first place.
