Pre G1 Whirl?

Postby Sherade » Sun Dec 30, 2007 3:56 pm

So, yesterday I bought Rodimus prime and what I thought was G1 whirl for $1.50.
Anyhoo, I looked for the Copyrights on Whirl, knowing that it is a borrowed mold, only to find the copyrights are:
On one foot: Bandai, 1984. Also stamped with Bandai logo
On the other foot: Ashi Production 1984.
Is this the Pre-G1 or were copyrights unchanged for G1?

Weapon: Particle Beam Cannon
Sounds like a pre G1 Whirl to me. Whirl wasn't released in the states as a TF unitl 1985.
Collection Count: Just enough G1 & Classics to make this look good!

Well Pre-G1 Whirl was a much darker blue then the Transformers release. G1 Whirl was a light baby blue. His Dorvack counterpart was a very dark blue.

Flea Market.
Did I mention I got just rodimus..no trailer..or anything...just the bare Roddy. :P
I got him 'cause I figured I'd just deal with both of 'em.
Whirl was complee, but the plastic is really faded and the arms loose.
Tentagil, can you give me pics or links?

That doesn't matter...G1 Megatron has a stamp date from the mid 70's.

This is not the pre-G1 Whirl. Whirl was licensed from Bandai for Hasbro. If it was the pre-G1 Whirl it would have had a Takatoku stamp, the company Bandai bought. The toy line pre-G1 Whirl is from is Dorvack. Taktoku is also famous for making the original Macross toys (G1 Jetfire).

Then this'll kill you. I've found:
G1 Grimlock: 1.00, loose joints, no weapons.
G1 Blaster: 1.00, tight joints, no head antennae or weapons.
G1 Grapple: Mint, no hands. (But I made some)
G1 Hound: 3 Tires, no mirrors, weapons, spare tire, stickers.
G1 Warpath: Mint
G1 Kup, Mint, Complete, like new!

The highlighted 4 came together for 4.00.
G1 Tailgate: Free, mint.
G1 Joyride: Free, no PM partner, tight joints.
G1 Barrage: Free, just the robor, no accessories.
G1 Kickback: 4.00, complete, tight joints, near mint.
G1 Swindle: 4.00, complete mint, like new!
And of course Whirl and Rodimus.

I also got energon Omega Supreme complet for 75 cents.

Where the frig do you live!?!

ONCE, and only ONCE did I meet a guy at a flea market who had his wife force him to sell off his stuff for whatever price I told him.

G1 (all of them) Boxed

Scorponok- $10(sadly I traded him and will always regret it)
Devastator gift set- $8
Wreck-Garr- $5
Grimlock- $7

He had so much more too, I told him I'd be back the following day, and he said fine. I drove out with $1500, but he was gone, and flea market fiend that I am, I never saw anything like this again

A, but there's a catch.
The only local flea market left worth going too is all indoor, and there are only 2 people with Tf's. (Often Overpriced)
Kup, and his 3 friends came from Pennsylvania.
Tailgate and the other freebies were from a friend.
Roddy P and Whirl are from West Virginia.
Kickback and Swindle came from a flea market that the new owner closed odwn (jackass).
Blaster and Grimmy came from yard sales not held often this time of year.
Come in spring and summer, and then you've got gold.

:(

I got that off Ebay for $80 last May.

Nostalgia freak that I am I used him to restore the verion I had from when I was a kid.

Since it was one of the only toys that I had since back in the day (I gave him away, and he still came back) I felt compeled.

Anything else worth a dam out that way though :-?

The same dude has MISB G1 Optimus, but I didn't bother asking a price.
If you look hard enough, G1's are common, and Beast Wars, don't start. They are all over.

Beast Wars you say!

Hell all my local flea markets ever have are moldy 1950's nakes dolls and paint flecked wresling guys.

IF I'm lucky, I may find a He-Man with mismatched limbs.

But hell some Beast Wars figs at the right price may very well be a good excuse for a road trip :-?
