It's got to be a strong if not leading contender for Visual effects, but If eel it's just making up the numbers for the other 2 awards.

After watching all the bonus features on the DVDs, and following the movie's production as I did, I think Scott Farrar and his team really, really, really deserve this Oscar. The work that went into making those bots really needs to be recognized.

It sure as hell beats a couple of CGI pirates ships or polar bears.

Glad to see it was nominated only for those specific categories and not something a lot more general and meaningful like Best Picture 'cause it certainly doesn't deserve anything like that. It had the worst director, worst plot, worst characterization (except Shia's character), worst ...
