Twin Sunset wrote:the first four were optimus, soundwave, starscream, and megatron, with jazz on the horizon. as far as i can tell the only toys with a 1st reissue are sky lynx and omega. i don't really see a focus on toys with no previous reissue. it's probably more in line with "which toys can we put out that will sell best after fans who weren't avid collectors before the movie, but who now want their childhood back since the movie?" kind of cynical, i know. but i really think they're releasing toys that both old and newer collectors will respond to. how many out there picked up lynx or omega because they were way too expensive when you were young?
so for the next encore figure, i'd say it'll be either one that everyone had and formed memories with, or was a holy grail back in the day.
...maybe i'm just ranting to justify wanting toys that've been reissued already

That's fine. Look, I'm not saying that people who want a Smokescreen reissue shouldn't be able to get one because Smokescreen has already been reissued, I'm saying that since Smokescreen has been reissued, it is entirely possible to obtain a G1 Smokescreen without having to reissue him again. I get tired of there being annoucnements about reissues only to find out that it's a reissue of a reissue. Like if you want a Starscream you have your choice of like 5 reissues that are all the same. If Takara and TRU released a reissue of Prowl, why does there need to be an Encore Prowl, three of the same figure, instead of an Encore Octane or Trailbreaker or Trypticon? Why do we always have to get the same reissues. Even Jazz got reissued through TRU, and now Encore. Ratchet and Ironhide at least were new reissues, and that's why e Hobby rocks, because it may be another Jazz, but it's at least a new character.

Somehow I believe you. You must work for Hasbro or TakTomy.

The Cassettes would be nice, but outside of the combiner sets I already have them, at lease the ones that saw a US release.
Realy though like alot of people have been saying I would like to see them do dome of figures that only hit in Japan. But unlike StarConvoy, I hope they would do them in sets. Wouldn't it be great to have a Grandus and Sky Garry to go along with him for under $900.
If they do Star Saber, do Victory Leo to. Dai Atlas, Have him come with Road Fire and Sonic Bomber.
As this mainly is a line for collectors, I don't think most collectors would mind paying more for a complete set new when compaired to vintage normaly incomplete sets.
I love the idea of vintage, but I wanna buy a house soon, so the idea of having these bots for less than half the vintage cost is something I won't complain to much about. See what I would do is get these, keep them open, then when I find the right deal on vintage, get it and keep it closed.

I couldn't agree more. If Encore is aimed more at the adult collector, then why not use it to release figures that are in demand by adult collectors like the Japan only releases?

there must be many moulds still available for use, hopefully the boost in TF popularity from the movie will encourage takaratomy to continue with G1 reissues.
