unless you're gonna use him mainly in the arena, i don't find L7 much better than L6, you still have access to the 6-11 and that's where the majority of xp seems to be

Not really; last few times I sent someone into the arena, I either gave up or the character timed out because it too SOOOOOOOOO long for opposition to show up.
