I have some observations regarding G1 articulation. Most of their parts, if at all can move, moves only in straight one or two axes. Making them look very stiff. Not much value for posability.

Some exceptions that i know of are the arms of Datsun Z guys, and to some extent, the arms of Jetfire, and upper body of Soundwave. But still, they can't do flexible poses. Due to the limited or non-existent articulation of the rest of their bodies.

People don't want to really admit this in the wake of over articulate movie toys, but a large number of G1s had very good articulation.

Rubbish! Apart from Ravage who is only slightly less poseable than the Alt version.

Good leg articulation. If their elbows had been functional, they woulda been great.

I find Alternators articulation quite limited for its size.

I think most of the Alts could have had better articulation - dodge viper legs, subaru arms, jeep arms. All could have been better.

Movie toys represent another step in the advancement of articulation and tiny parts.

I think if Alternators will have been designed today, applying the lessons of Movie toys, the result will be highly flexible, and even more realistic toys.
