I agree with pretty much everything Lapse of Reason said. I'm might enjoy collecting, but I do it as a hobby and transforming a TF can be a little on the stress relieving side. If I needed to sell of my collection in the event anything happened then I would. There might be a couple figures that I'd like to keep, but that's not because of their value, but more of what they meant to me. My G1 Onslaught is a lot more to me than a collector's item. It's one of the last things my Grandpa fixed for me before he died. He managed to find a company that made the screws Hasbro uses and was able to put him back together. Figures that hold meaning like that are the ones that are most valuable to me. I think I only have 3 figures that I can consider to be like that.

Man, that was,.......oddly moving.

Grandpa sounds like he was a pretty cool cat to do that for you. Most people wouldn't never even tried to fix it, let alone find the exact screws you need. I've got a G1 Magnus that I'd love to replace the screws in, but I don't even know where to start.

Strange.... When I make a post it starts to leave words out. I've had to reedit several posts.

My Grandpa was awesome! He was the type of person who would'nt let a project die. So when I showed him my Onslaught, he became a little obsessive in tracking down the right pieces to fix it.

Family is overrated. I would totally sell my kids into slavery for a Predaking right now.

Well, if I had kids.

I'm the type of guy who usually trapses around in blue jeans, my work boots, a black t-shirt and black leather jacket. Most folks tend to get out of my way when I enter a store because I usually look like I'm ready to tear someones head off but the one thing that has gotten me an incredible amount of attention (all positive) is the silver Autobot medallion pinned to my leather jacket. Men AND women have stopped me and commented on or inquired about my Autobot pin and ALL have had nothing but positive stuff to say when I take the time to chat with them. I think the social stigma placed upon us collectors is starting to ever so slowly change.

I agree with that 100%. A few years ago, if you wore, say, an Autobot shirt and walked down the street with it on, you'd have to be wary of things being thrown at you as you passed by or at least have people think you were a pretty big nerd. Now when I don the TF threads (which is often) people come up to me out of the blue and compliment me on my choice of clothes. often they tell me how Transformers is their favorite movie, although sometimes they mention the old school stuff.

And the biggest difference with that is a lot of them are girls. And some of them are really hot girls.

And this is why future generations of TF fans will have it so much easier than we did! But at least they can thank us for making TransFormers "cool". Hell, it only took us 24 years. ;)

Yeah. The barter economy just ain't what it used to be.

The biggest misconception about collecting Transformers is that you like automobiles and jets.

I hate cars and could do without flying the rest of my life.

Robots, on the other hand, rule.

When I have kids, my house is going to be run like Battle School in Ender's Game.

Personally, I see myself as more of a Battle Royale kind of father figure.

Cars and jets alone are boring, but once you make them turn into a robot they are all kinds of awesome! Meister's post makes sense to me.

I only like vehicles because I enjoy looking at them and try to figure out what kind of robot it could turn into. It's a lot of fun and it gives the technical aspect of my mind something to do when I'm bored.

In fairness, jets are pretty cool. But when I made my original comment I was thinking more of the Alternators/BT line which are obviously based of a cars mostly car nerds would be into...

I am not into cars or tricking out my ride at all but I still appreciated how awesome the A?BT line is/was.
