I think you mean Energon instead of Armada. If so, I, like you, was happy with the purple Energon Galvatron. At that time I started getting into non-G1 transformers because some looked like updated G1 figures and I was happy with that.

Oh, no, I really did mean armada galvatron. Armada megatron at that time was the butt of every phallic joke. Then they went and repainted him into galvatron. Kinda left a bad taste in my mouth, so to speak.

Then energon megatron was repainted into energon galvatron. Quite a few ppl seemed to be happy about that happening, as I can recall from that time.

The sudden popularity of the more recent series is goon news to those like me, who go after the not so new lines, G1 aside (G1 is always popular, no matter what), namely RID and Beast Wars.

The ole boo-hoo routine is bizzare to me. IF in fact you ARE right and the toy is over priced, get your ass over to eBay and buy it on the cheap. Then turn around and sell it for $45 or $60 yourself.

In 4 years of AEC toys I can count on one hand the number of toys I had to return due to QC issues on one hand.

I returned that many toys in the past month in regards to Universe alone.

And so, the trilogy was not perfect.

I do agree however that in light of the lines that have come out since then, they did fare better in terms of QC problems. Better to the point that I wish we had the QC problems of yesterday.

Yeah, I think that was the point Counterpunch was trying to make. It would be mind-boggling ludicrous to think that any mass produced product could even feasibly go through a production run with zero quality infractions, so I doubt CP was honestly saying that every single toy released in like a seven year span was perfect.
What he said was that over the time the new Universe line has been out he has returned more toys for quality issues that he did during the afor-mentioned seven year run of A/E/C.

I agree that Classics did a lot to bring people back to the hobby, but you also have to look at the fact that transformers in general are more popular than they ever have been... [snip]

No, I mean ever as in EVER. People aren't spending all of their money at retail, but more money is bveing spent on Transfornmers (adjusting the dollars) than ever has been before. You have to factor in ebay, private sales and the like as well as retail.

And the brand and franchise have never been this hot, especially with a universal audience. It's not just a bunch of 5-12 year old kids we are talking about as the base anymore.-

For the record, there is a molding flaw on the Galaxy Force version of Thunderblast (Chromia) which the US release does not have, which, in part, explains some of the reason why there is outlier demand for the toy.

The face is not properly molded. It's not serious and I think some people can over look it, but it is there.
