I think that giant gun is part of his trailer. if you look at the trailer, you can see a part of the gun. Also, UM's armor in robot mode is too few to form that really big trailer.

That was kind of obvious... however I'm not going to need the gun when he's posed in robot mode. So I can just store it away.

I'm so glad I've got one pre-ordered with BBTS as the armor/trailer looks awesome.
I don't think I'll use the monster gun when I display UM but it looks pretty good all the same.
I noticed that the Fansproject site has an ideas section so I sent them the following which I think would make intresting future projects,
