The Universe Minicon 10 pack that has recently been showing up at some US discount chains is now available in the UK as a Tesco exclusive. The online shopping page can be found here: http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.206-0976.aspx and I picked up a set in store today. Two actually as there was a manufacturing problem with the Overcharge in the first set that I picked up and I had to make an exchange. One of the serated pins had shattered the black plastic piece it was attatched to into three pieces. The second one's fine, and I've not heard anyone else complain about the same thing so I'm calling poor QC rather than a problem with the mould this time around.

This set is pretty rare in the States too, only seen this a few times on eBay.

Except they've never sold it at 40 quid. It's just come into stock with the new Direct catalogue and appeared in stores in the last week. I believe that's technically illegal advertising under UK law. There's a statute to the effect that an item has to be advertised and sold at it's original price for (if I remember rightly) around 31 days before you're allowed to advertise something as reduced. 20 pounds in store looked to be the regular list price without any indication of it being a reduction. Woolworths did something similar with the 12 pack last year, overpricing it for the minimum period and then whacking 50% off, making for a fair price. Why they'd flount the law by advertising it as reduced on the web and in the catalogue is beyond me.

The 20 quid price tag is about right too. Minicon 3 packs would be going for 8 quid under the current pricing structures, so a multipack coming in a little cheaper per figure sounds fair.

I have a feeling that this set is gooing to be in short supply. With the website already being sold-out, people are now throwing them on Ebay for £50 :shock:

My local only got four in, that was about ten days ago, thankfully I managed to snag one. Considering that they are in Euro-box packaging, hopefully they should show up elsewhere :-?
