Unfortunately that piece being yellow is a consequence of the plastic type: it's Polyamide, a sturdier type than regular ABS. PA is used in joints, and it can't be (economically) painted. Best one can do it sticker it.

And I'm happy there's a choice between cartoon and toy deco.

Also Siege would be a better fit, since Gobot Crasher was a closed canaopy racer.

That's largely why I'm skipping this version. I fully expect a SG Hot Rod to be released.

Love me the toy-accurate look and SG HR does need a new figure.

I have the studio one, but it's nice this is getting made. It is a shame about that yellow plastic on his hood.

They might be waiting to see how well Shadowstrip sells before forging ahead with that. IIRC the CW G2 combiners underperformed in sales (hence us not getting G2 Defensor. Again. Maybe shoulda led with him, Hasbro, since as "thing we never got" he'd have been more in demand), so it would make sense for them to be more cautious this time.

G2 Drag Strip didn't originally have "Shadow" in his name either.

Uh-huh, but the "Robo" doesn't look to be in the name in that case. With Shadowstrip it replaced part of the original name, which isn't the case here. Pattern-wise, this feels more in line with them using "Black Convoy" for RiD Scourge because the RotB line will be using the name "Scourge".


Also unlike with Shadowstrip, "Robo" doesn't seem like it would have anything to do with Wildrider's G2 color scheme.
Another mark against it being G2 Wildrider (at least based on Shadowstrip) is that it seems to be in the main line.

Then you're gonna be skipping every use of the mold, bucko, because it's in unpaintable plastic for durability and on the same sprue as the spoiler (which is likewise). They weren't going to do a separate sprue for one hinge, it's super-uneconomical.

Well, a consequence of plastic type and mold layout. It shares a sprue with the spoiler (which is cast in the same so it can get away with being strutless!)

And it can be economically painted at home, if you're careful or up for disassembly. Acrylic should work on it (Hasbro's standard paint is enamel; more hard-wearing, but on softer and/or somewhat "waxier" plastics like Polyamide it will never cure past being tacky).

I'll probably get every version of the Hot Rod figure because it turned out very well even though I still don't think it should cost more than $28. Definitely not $34.

I would absolutely love a black version with the light blue chest like MP-09B. The deco that appeared in Lost Light.

For all the people still complaining about the lack of magenta on the 86 version, just wait for the buzzworthy repaint.

F'eh - who cares about Hot Rod when there's still a dearth of Cosmos figures? Why is it that Cosmos is the only wave 1 figure in the Velocitron line which is NOT listed at all on the Walmart website? They weren't kidding about this figure being a walmart 'exclusive' - in fact it seems to be so exclusive that even Walmart doesn't have any!

Ask someone from the UK to get you one from Smyths. That store gets solid cases of Cosmos.

Some one may or not have hid a cosmos behind a blurr, that someone will be disapointed becasue I picked it up. Despite me not wanting it, I figure it will go with my MPs despite needing arm fillers and the legends one can go be my 'toy' cosmos.Just sucks that the legends toy is way more fun at half the price of the velocitron one. Picking up SSbee Ratchet for £15 didnt really offset the price by that much either.

Good thing is hopefully Clampdown will get reduced down the line if it is a wave 2 repack like when I picked up netflix wheeljack for £7.

Maybe... We'll see when pictures leak of Robo Wld Rdr if indeed they planed a complete set or just a one off for some weird reason.

Sadly, the minions checked very thoroughly, and no Cosmos figures have been hidden behind any of the other Velocitron figures in any Walmarts near my realm. Would that it were so. They've found plenty of everything else, though...

It was available initially online, but they sold out exceedingly fast and were never restocked. Walmart chose the case packout and for whatever reason decided the one new figure in the pack should be one per case instead of logically making it two or even three per case. Even with solid cases available they chose not to offer them, not even online. Better yet, with the revision wave that includes Crasher and Shadowstrip, they didn't included Cosmos at all. I don't know if Hasbro simply didn't explain the details to Hasbro well enough or if someone at Walmart just didn't like the looks and story for the character. I'm thinking when Hasbro pitched him as the flag waver instead of a racer Walmart instantly decided he wouldn't be a popular character. The other one per case, Clampdown, also isn't a racer, he's a police officer pulling over racers in this entirely legal race, for speeding...

Kinda really bummed on that Hot Rod. I want to see what they will do with the mold in magenta.

I was also really hoping for an official IDW Rodimus, but ya know, that is still a long shot.

Honestly, as Cosmos was the only one I actually wanted and update to because the Legends figure was too spindly, it's going to seriously eff me off if I cannot get him..

And if that happens I may have to rethink even buying anything else, I'm tiring of the Hasbro shaft.
