Oh Are we talking about the Walmart reissue Starscream's head now? Ok I did a whole Write up on this On TFW (sorry I don't post here as much). I'll try and post the pictures here later if I can. The Walmart Starscream has more to his Head than just painted Eyes but its not all of them. I have opened 4 of the reissue Starscreams just to check my own odds. So onto the Problem From the Data I collected from Other people and myself it seems something happened to the G1 Seeker mold during production of the recent reissue.

Let me state this some of the recent reissue do not have this change from Earlier Runs it seems (specifically earlier production runs from out of Asia) So this most likely happened to the mold mid Production I guess?


Ok onto the mold change. If you check the face of you're Walmart Reissue Starscream and compare it to any other copy of the G1 Seeker mold that has been released your Starscream may have a differently molded face. The easiest way to check this is if you look at Starscreams lower right hand corner of his face and he has a Crater/Indent in his sculpting than you have the new molding. beside the crater the differences in the newer reissue has a wider/longer more profound Chin and slightly wider nose.

So I don't know if the seeker mold was Damaged during Production and was re-sculpted or Mold degradation has finally caught up to it.


If you watch a lot of reviewers review's of the Walmart reissue most of them have the Newer tooling so it seems to be a wide spread issue.

Just chiming in on the Starscream's face thing. I'd assumed it was the same, but after reading it posted here, I compared all my different Seekers.

Compared to my original 84 Skywarp, and my TRU Thundercracker reissue, it would appear that Starscream's IS different. Definitely a longer face / chin, (like Jtprime just mentioned) and best way to describe it, a prettier mouth.

Are we sure this change didn't happen with whichever Takara version came with the fist holes and Megatron gun?

Maybe a series of up close shots would help discern what's going on? It could very well be that it's either an optical illusion, or that the face was degrading little by little and Hasbro has had it fixed.

I asked one of my friends who own the Platimun Coneheads (the last reissue of the G1 Seeker mold Before Starscream) and they confirmed they have the Original molding.

Think of it this way: even tho the toy on the box has the original G1 head, that's no total guarantee it'll have that, there's a chance Hasbro has decided to be cheeky and decided to use the Music Label head instead.

I'd say it's a 50/50 chance, tho there's a 10% chance of that.

This early on it's very difficult to say how close that Prime convention sample represents the final retail release. It could be exactly as we see it or it could be a drastically different with updated graphics and even a different figure inside with short stacks. And even if this is the final version it's hardly uncommon for the figure on the package to be a little (or a lot) different from the figure inside.

Anyway, hey look, they're still restocking these. Haven't seen these two in over a month.

I would guess it's the original head based on a couple things.

One is the use of the original color for the glazing.

I think if they were going to be using the cartoon interpretation-based Music Label head they would have used cartoon-based blue glazing to go with it. But they didn't.

The other thing is that in general they seem to be going the "original toy colors" route. Starscream has yellow optics, an unpainted face, a smoky-clear canopy instead of an orange one, and the darker gray and blue of his original toy. Looking at the Constructicons, Mixmaster's back to having a green barrel that makes him look monochrome, Bonecrusher and Scavenger's launchers are purple instead of black, and Devastator's head is the original mold and has yellow optics.

First came the rumor, then came the confirmation, and now we can finally bring you our first look at G1 reissue Optimus Prime in all his glory thanks once again to Transformer Never Die. If you've handled a G1 Prime before there isn't a whole lot new to see here. Unless the lighting is throwing things off (it's entirely possible!) his colors appear to be based mainly on the 25th Anniversary version from 2008 in a slightly pink shade of red. He does have a small bonus in seemingly including both the skinny and chunky versions of his blaster, but that's apparently it.

Unfortunately these new pics also squelch a few theories about including the Music Label head, a Matrix, axe, or blue windows seen on other iterations. At least the stickers aren't pre-applied.











So what do you think? Still excited about the return of long stacks? Disappointed that he's a basic figure with no trailer? Let yourself be heard down in the Energon Pub!

I hope they offer a trailer version for those who want a complete Optimus.

Either way, I'm not personally interested since I already have a complete G1 Optimus. Like, I might be slightly interested if it had the axe and matrix, since Dark0v has been out of the repro business for years now and nobody's currently producing a kit with those from what I can tell. But as it is? Pass.

Extra gun is nice. Can give it to another Prime figure in your collection whether it's the original toy that's lost his or a modern figure that you just want to have the original gun with (cos a lot of modern guns look a bit crud, especially Titans Return ones where they hollow them out for seats) Nice it has the original head too cos that music label one just looks weird.

You're not wrong and I'm not the only one that feels that way. It's not so much that I think all versions should be without a trailer, I just think there whould be options. Some of us want half a toy.

Lack of trailer would bother me more if it was Magnus who needs his trailer to even look like himself... or Powermaster Prime where the cab is far more primitive and less articulated than this original Prime with the main point of that toy is to combine with it's trailer. Original Prime functions fine without his trailer so it's not a big deal to me who might just want the main figure but not the big grey box or (as i said before) might already have the trailer with a broken or short stacked Prime.

I think it's a pity however that once again they've failed to give us a retooled version of Kawamori's Folly that replaces the stupid decorative handle with a 5mm peg

My own G1 Optimus is the commemorative one that came with the extra voicebox. He had shorts smokestacks and I had to order a pair of long ones from China to upgrade him. Those arms are a NIGHTMARE to disassemble. Lots of tiny, tiny springs and gears inside that tend to fly off everywhere. I succeeded and now my Optimus have long DIECAST stacks.


I'm pretty pleased that this Optimus do have the long smokestacks. People will have the "real" Optimus without having to struggle with an upgrade. Now my only hope is that he'll be priced at 50$CAN at the very most and he'd be available aplenty like Hotrod was. So that everyone have a chance to get him while undercutting the scalpers.
