Found Soundwave and his cassettes at Oak Ridge, TN, Walmart.

My initial reaction to Soundwave is that I really like the tightness of the joints and how he locks into place in cassette player mode. Looks great overall and I'm really stoked to have it. One negative is that some of the stickers come pre-applied and not only are they put on a little wonky, they also don't want to stay stuck. I'm considering taking some of these stickers off and applying repros.

As a lot of you probably know, the lasers on Buzzsaw and Lazerbeak are a little shorter than they were on the original. Not a major issue but it is noticeable if you are used to the original.

I'd take a misassembled packaging over a misassemble figure any day.

Gosh, 2017 was horrible... Figures with to right arms, reverse assembly of limbs, missing parts in package, and so on. :BANG_HEAD:

To my fellow Canadians, I found the cassettes in the Penticton, BC Walmart today. $30 each!? I'll keep the receipt in case they go on sale, but I have a feeling they won't.

That's 15$ each. Much cheaper than hunting them online.
Also, based on the Ebay listing above, the last one was sold at 55$US and BIN listings at 38$US are getting sold like hot cakes. Not counting shipping mind you.

So yeah. Those cassettes will NEVER have the time to go on clearance.

I saw Soundwave and all his cassettes tonight at Walmart. I passed on them though, $100 is too much to justify right now for that set. it's too expensive a timeframe

If you already have G1 Soundwave and his cassettes, it is. But if you plan to have them, unless you are tight on money right now, don't wait for a sale.

On my end, if I spot the complete sets in store, I thing I'll buy them even if I already have the "fat chest" reissue from 2000-something.

I'm on the fence about picking up Soundwave. I have the TRU reissue, but it's the double chest version so I have room in my collection for a regular chest. But do I need him... maybe on sale or clearance if he lasts long enough. I don't need the tapes though, I've got the ones that came with the TRU reissue and the ones that came in the Encore versus packs so I'm set.

I think the ones that must be bought quickly are the cassettes. Soundwave himself may be on sale sooner or later.

I love what a force our fandom is that we get these reissues from the 80’s time and again. There’s always haggles about price and quality for sure but it’s just so cool to me that this stuff exists and is available for young and old alike. I hope everyone who gets a Soundwave gets some of that same joy I had as a kid when he was first released. Just such a great toy.

Exactly. The cassettes only appear to be expensive. They are quite cheap at 30$CAN a pair. Soundwave on the other hand, is debatable.

If only MPM Jazz and Seige Jetfire didn't came out at the same time...

Finally saw a single Soundwave at one of the out of the way Walmarts in my area. They had 3 whole pegs for cassettes, all completely empty though.

That's similar to my experience so far. One Walmart had three Soundwaves and no tapes and the other had three pegs of tapes, but no Soundwaves. Though you finding only one at a store me only finding three (the other store probably hasn't put theirs out yet) does make me think these might be better sellers than people think. And with no guarantee of restocks in this line it makes me a little nervous about waiting on Soundwave. People seem to have caught on that Soundwave with Buzzsaw is a better deal at $50 than Prime with next to nothing.

Makes Sense. I mean I'm not really in the market for a Soundwave, but was still just happy to see it. Of all the reissues so far. Only Prime & Hot Rod have been *arguably* over priced IMHO, and coincidentally, they are both the only ones to have to go on clearance. (Probably had higher production runs also, though I cant prove it).

A lot of people are saying the cassette 2 packs at $20 US each are overpriced as well. I tend to agree, but with Soundwave on the shelf *hypothetically* at the same time, I don't think the cassettes are going to have trouble selling.

Isnt this early stocking selling just as well as Prime was when he first came out? I remember being shocked at how many fans were still jumping on him after it seemed the community was going to boycott it.

Money's tight right now. Got a wedding, a unicron, and a bunch of other stuff. Can't justify $100. And I cannot justify $10 per cassette.

Oh, I was overwhelmed with nostalgia, picking up the cassettes. They may have been my first transformers and I remember asking my mom if I could have them at the store. They were small and I could hide them in my pocket, even when I wasn't suppose to have toys with me

I would love to open but not wreck the package. Would using a utility knife be the best way to open the package? Maybe slice the plastic bubble and slide the toys out?

There's that and you'd also just double-dip. So I can understand that this release is pretty low on your priority list.

As for me, I'm skipping on that HASLAB Unicron. I cancelled my order and everything. I have my card to pay and I don't want to fill it up right after.

Is it just me or are all the cassette doors sitting sideways? Every Soundwave I've seen has a crooked door. Dunno if all my Wal-Marts are just getting bad batches, or I'm just seeing things.

Were they really selling that well around you? The first time I saw Prime there was six on the shelf. When they went on clearance there was five. I check my local stores at least once every week, I would have noticed if there were more or less than that on the shelves, they just didn't sell well at all. One sold at $50, two sold at $35, the remaining three sold at $25. Total failure (in my area).
