A prototype remain a prototype. Minor adjustments would be enough to have a kick-ass rétro looking Unicron. I'd pay the sure 200$ the thing would cost.

A prototype, yes, but probably no molds. At most they probably made one mold for testing, but they likely would have destroyed it when the figure was cancelled. Same is likely true for the smaller Takara version.



I'd still prefer the Beast Wars Neo version even if it's basically the Cybertron Primus figure.



And BTW, Hot Rod is also missing from Walmart.com, not just Starscream.

I think the key was the article stated they should be active today, but no later than this week to coincide with SDCC. Allegedly.

Bumblebee having the cartoon face from the Japanese reissues is news. We've speculated, but this confirms it.

No cartoon face for Devastator, though.

From IGN.com, we have official images of all the G1 Transformers toys reissues coming this year along with some prices.

These include:

Starscream for $34.76

Devastator for $74.00

Hot Rod for $29.84

Bumblebee

Outback

Swerve

Tailgate

The smaller figures all seem to be the same rereleases we got in the encore line, with added paint on their faces to help them look more like their cartoon appearance. The Bumblebee head is also the retooled cartoon head we previously saw in the Japanese encore reissue.

The IGN article states that these figures will be available for order on the Walmart website starting tonight but as of writing the figures are all out of stock and not all listings could be found.

I hope they do G2 Bee in the near future, as he's the one I had when I was a kid. It would be so cool for me to be able to afford buy one to be carded for display and another for messing with.

Yesterday we got all the official images of the upcoing Walmart exclusive G1 reissues. These includes Starscream, Devastator, Hot Rod and several minibots. These same reissues were also shown in their packaging at San Diego Comic Con and Seibertron has images for you. On display were Bumblebee (sporting the remolded cartoon face), Devastator and Starscream. The packaging is as close to the G1 packaging as possible. We can see Bumblebee's instructions on the back.

These are said to be available in the next few days so check this article which includes the links to all the Walmart listings.
