also I fail to see the contradictions. there's millions of years between WFC and prime, different alt modes and personality =/= CONTRADICTIONSSSSSSSS. Things change, especially with the long timeline and, well, the war. I don't see how making this be in the aligned/prime continuity will ruin this forever, when it was meant to be in this in the first place. If anything, it'd be :| to suddenly make this OUT of this continuity.

weren't they leaving Cybertron on the ARK at the end of WFC? Either way, i hope the game is longer than the past two High Moon ventures.

Now only is it a fun game, but I also love art direction of WFC.
Way better than the Festival of Ugly that is Transformers Prime.

Aside from the Dark Energon variations and difffering body designs, like what?

The dark energon and the body issues are rather strange. Breakdown being the most obvious
He's had eons and eons and millenia upon millenia to undergo enough changes to his character to become the character he is in the Prime cartoon. Don't forget, there's SO MUCH time that occurs between the two eras.

YoungPrime wrote:
Sabrblade wrote:Just after Exiles is released do we hear of this. Now that's perfect timing. :D

This game better have as similar (if not more similar) a story to Exiles as Exodus and WFC had.

Looks like Optimus (and maybe Bumblebee) gets a new body.

And is that supposed to be Grimlock? Looks like he got a new body too (compared his old body). I wonder if he'll keep this same exact look for when/if he shows up in Transformers: Prime (since we were told that the Dinbots were coming in season 2).

Though, if this game includes Cybertron-based battels, hopefully they're only at the beginning of the game and then shift to the other colony worlds, since the 'Bots and 'Cons left Cybertron at the end of the previous story. ;)

Exodus was a contradicting, poorly edited mess. TF:Prime is disappointing as well.

So keep WFC2 as far away as possible from both please!
Too late. It's already official. :-B :KREMZEEK:

BTW, when I analyzed Exodus, the only contradictions within it were very minimal ones that could be explained away in a simple manner. ;)

kup1986 wrote:This is an awesome announcement...However..

I am afraid of what Hasbro may push on this. I hated the whole stupid and nonsensical marketing forced idea that WFC was in the TF: Prime continuity. The game did not reflect any of that at all and in many way it contradicted it.
Aside from differing body designs and Dark Energon variances, how so?

kup1986 wrote:It was clear that the idea of 'tying up' WFC with TF Prime was something that Hasbro did well after the game was produced so it was too late to retroactively push that concept into the game...Unfortunately that's not the case here as that idea now predates the sequel.
They had planned to two to be together from the start, since the first thing they ever did was jot down the entire continuity within the 354-page "Binder of Revelation".

kup1986 wrote:I am very much afraid that this game will try to make 'WFC' into TF Prime and remove itself from the 'G1' universe that the first game is clearly based upon.
It's as much G1-inspired as the Bay movies are/were.

kup1986 wrote:If this game becomes 'TF Prime' it will kill much of my enjoyment of it and chances are I may not get it as if you remove the 'G1' from the first game, it looses a lot of appeal as the graphics and gameplay were ok but nothing that really stood out.
The idea of WFC having been originally a G1 game is a myth.

He was NOT created after they landed on Earth. 1) Grimlock was the leader of the Lightning Strike Coalition on Cybertron during the pre-Earth war, and 2) THIS IS NOT G1.

Bios
GRIMLOCK fought his way through the gladiatorial pits underneath Kaon to become one of the greatest warriors on CYBERTRON. Having joined the AUTOBOTS early on during the Great War, GRIMLOCK made it clear he never trusted OPTIMUS PRIME to properly lead the AUTOBOTS. Due to his shock and awe approach to combat, GRIMLOCK is not regarded as a great military leader. However, he has fought and survived through enough battles to earn top ranking position among the AUTOBOTS. Having struck out on his own, GRIMLOCK eventually found himself leader of the DINOBOTS, a special operations strike force unit that can power through most barricades and DECEPTICON strongholds. During a battle with the DECEPTICON SCORPONOK, GRIMLOCK’s vocal processors were damaged, leading to his awkward and distinct way of speaking. If GRIMLOCK has a weakness, it is his larger than Prime ego and his lack of patience.

Yep. Maybe (hopefully) this will deal with the Ark launch and will shift the conflict over to the other colony worlds.

This just made my day better. :D Hopefully, and by the looks of the covers, Fall of Cybertron will be "shorter" version of Exiles, just like WFC was for Exodus.

And what's with WFC being in G1 continuity? It definitely isn't, so why bring it up? It's official that WFC, Exodus and Prime are in the same continuity, which is not G1, so I don't see WHY people tie WFC in to G1. Sure they look different in the game and in the cartoon, but isn't that what you would except when they come from Cybertron to Earth, where they have to blend in and thus change their alt-mode.

Anyway, back to the game: the only thing that bugs me in WFC is their sizes. Something I hope they'll change in FoC, though I highly doubt it. I'm still not over it that Sideswipe, even though he's a scout, is as tall/small as Bumblebee. I know I will love FoC no matter what, but if they'd make more size differences between characters, I would be super happy.

You kiddin'? It's widely regarded as the greatest Transformers video game of them all, trumping all of the ones to come before it (when the Armada PS2 game was previously regarded as the best).

I don't know which platform you're using, but at least on Xbox there's people still playing it. Sure it's hard to get players to play other modes than Team Deathmatch and Conquest, but on good days there's some great matches going on. Escalation is popular too. ;)

When we are talking about the designs then all the characters designs is based on their alt modes, the cybertron alt modes are not like the earth alt modes, like G1 and many other ones the transformers had to change their alt mode so they can stay on earth without a human spotting them.

So the designs are not a problem, expect with the faces, the faces of the characters in WFC are not like the one in Prime.

COD is easily the most overrated game series nowadays. And Battlefield isn't much different either. (I'm not just saying this to defend the WFC game, because there are many games out there that are better than those two games.) My point is first person shooters are the most overrated game genre nowadays. No wonder parents complain that their kids play em. (though to be fair its the parents fault for letting then play them.)

regarding Grimlock, someone said this is not G1?

but they clearly said when the first game came out it was official cannon to the original tv show's universe. which would make sense because its the one time frame most people know, whether they are a fan or not.

but either way, whenever prequel or sequel stuff is made to an existing mythology there's always inconsistencies and/or contradictions so i'm sure they'll have their own story to explain it.

WFC seems like pre-G1 when they were on Cybertron. If you read exodus its kinda like the combined cybetronian flashbacks over each episode from G1

Like the episode where the airalbots went back in time to meet Orion Pax

Best news all week, day before that release of Dark Of The Moon blu ray (I know it's not the "ultimate edition" but I'll get that when it's released, I need DOTM asap!).

War for Cybertron was great! My fav ps3 game, second is Warhammer Space Marine which has a lot in commmon.

Yess, Battlefield/COD are more popular, in gaming transformers have never been really "present".
So I don't think you can compare it to the real "game" titles form studios who have been around ages. Transformers isn't for everybody, still it's a great game and I do recommend it to shooter fans (you don't have to find a car to drive to the other side of the map, press L3, be the car!).

I mean, seriously, who cares about some nameless soldiers in COD? Or those meatheads in Gears of War? Do they have story? Years of designs and reinventions? War for Cybertron has all that, but normal gamers don't know the difference between Scattorshot and Warpath besides the color :)

I think that optimus only hovers now because he doesn't have his wheels on his back.

Bouncy X wrote:regarding Grimlock, someone said this is not G1?

but they clearly said when the first game came out it was official cannon to the original tv show's universe. which would make sense because its the one time frame most people know, whether they are a fan or not.
They did not. They NEVER said that. You must have been misinformed.

gavinfuzzy wrote:WFC seems like pre-G1 when they were on Cybertron. If you read exodus its kinda like the combined cybetronian flashbacks over each episode from G1

Like the episode where the airalbots went back in time to meet Orion Pax
This game defies SO much of the G1 cartoon that it CANNOT fit with it at all.

Same goes for Exodus.
