Is it just me, or do the WFC/FOC Autobot figures mostly suck?

I'll explain. Keep in mind here that I am strictly talking about the toys. WFC Megs and Soundwave are pretty awesome, IMHO. They really look like Cybertronian incarnations of their G1 selves. Granted, their Alt-modes are a bit weak, but I like to put Megs in "weapon platform" a.k.a. Galvatron mode, and I think it works better. Likewise, Soundwave looks pretty cool as a Cybertronian boom-box.

From FOC, Shockwave looks awesome. Likewise Bruticus. Def. figs that have great robot and alt-modes.

However, I'm extremely disappointed overall in the autobots. FOC Jazz looks pretty good, but WFC Bumblebee and Cliffjumper just do not impress me at all.

Now, on to Optimus Prime: WFC Prime had a pretty good 'bot mode, but his alt-mode was less than stellar. Moving on to FOC, Prime's alt-mode looks cooler, but his 'bot mode is terrible!

Are Decepticons just better suited to alien alt-modes?

I just want to say that I hope this isn't coming across as whiny. I'm super pumped about just about everything involving WFC and FOC, including the toys, but I find it a touch lame that they Autobot figures can't measure up to the 'cons, and I wanted to know if anyone else felt the same, or if anyone could convince me otherwise.

I thought WFC Soundwave was a car. The Titanium Soundwave is a boombox. A repaint into Blaster would have been awesome...

And yeah, FOC Prime sux. I'm planning on picking up the Rage Over Cybertron set and subbing them as the FOC figures.

I'm not a bumblebee fan at all, but I thought his car mode looked pretty good.

I think an issue maybe, is autobots are cars and trucks. Cars on earth hold people or haul stuff. On cybertron, they just move around. There's no point to have passenger space.
Decepticons are, generally more equipped for fighting. So, yea, I see soundwave and megatron have more function and purpose in vehicle mode than autobots would.

I'd love to see more sleek designs like bulmblebee. His bot mode was too, bumblebee for me. I might go for a green wasp repaint though . I can't recall anyone in the game that was too sleek though, they're all pretty clunky and heavy looking.

I wish Bumblebee were a scout mold. I dig the figure as it is, but would've loved it more, had he been a scout.

The only way I can justify FOC Prime, is 1) Keeping him in vehicle mode, while WFC is in robot mode, 2) The G1 homage in the gun.

I must admit I have a villain bias, but the Decepticons excite me a lot more than the Bots. Combaticons are a flipping "true" Combiner team, Soundwave has a boss truck mode AND boss boombox mode, and Shockwave's essentially a gun with wings... and this is from someone who doesn't care about "G1."

Bots got Optimus and BB (who we've seen so much of it hurts), a repaint of BB, and Jazz. I myself am not much of an automobile fan (Earthen, Cybertonian, or otherwise), especially not when the "cars" are larger than the "trucks" or "tanks."

To be honestly with you, while being a big fan of Jazz, I really don't like this FOC Jazz. I pretty much agree with you, WFC/FOC Autobots suck. I have WFC Megatron and Soundwave and they are still awesome by now. I have WFC Prime. He is a good toy and the alt mode didn't bother me much, but I've turned him in to a Decepticon. Wile both FOC Jazz and Prime totally let me down now, I'm still open and keeping the hope to see what Hasbro will give us.

I loved WFC, read Exodus and am finally reading Exiles and am looking forward to FOC, both the game and the toyline. I loved the Op, Megs, and Soundwave figures but the Bumblebee & Cliffjumper mold blew in botmode. I do plan on getting the upcoming toys but FOC Optimus Prime, he is only going to be bought to make either Nemesis Prime or Ultra Magnus. If I still have a spare Soundwave around I might make an Ironhide just to even out the numbers a bit because the Bots are drastically outnumbered.

Yeah. But the Titanium Soundwave actually looked good. The alt mode was more like Blaster than Soundwave.

I think they all look nice and I love WFC but I wish they used the size classes from the game for the toys. I'd love it if the 'cars' were Scouts. Scout versions of Jazz, Dead End, Sideswipe, Breakdown and Barricade would be amazing.
