WOW. I can't imagine anywhere where the Skywarp/UM set was shelfwarming. You should have bought them all and sold them on ebay.

Takara should made a reissue like they just did with Henkei Hot Rod, which instantly dropped from >70USD to about 30. A reissue of both Ultra Magnus and of the Bruticus set would do good to Has/Tak, to FP and to the guys who weren't able to get the figures back then. It'd be pure win for everybody

Bruticus was a giant shelfwarmer everywhere around me. Even after the FP set was released he was on clearance just about everywhere.
I guess I could have made a killing by now buy buyign and reselling, but I'm not in the hobby to do that.

I live in the same part of Pennsylvania as Prime Evil but closer to Philadelphia and it was a shelf warmer here. I got it when it came out and only a few others had sold before they went on clearance. I think the naked Magnus was a turnoff for most fans and it only really took off in price when Thundercracker was announced for the Botcon set. Magnus was still an unwanted extra until City Commander.

I remember seeing shelves full of them at Woolworths here. They were cheap too. £15 or something? I passed because "he's just a white Optimus Prime, and Skywarp? Why, there's no Thundercracker!" Hindsight is awesome. I could have stocked up on those badboys and could be making a killing on eBay.
assembling a Neo-G1/TF:TM cast. Please PM if you have (or know of) the following at a reasonable price: Classics or Henkei Astrotrain, Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, or 3rd Party iGear Ratchet and Ironhide.

I hear the Magnus/Skywarp was clearanced all over here as well. The one I bought secondhand four years ago or so had a clearance sticker on it for $12. I hear they went down to like half that even...

Yea, Magnus was unwanted, there where even kitbashers who bought that set just to be able to kitbash Magnus, because he was easier to come bye than Prime.
I think the last Price I heard of that set was discounted down to 9 dollars.
There was even an Asian set of him and Prime that was available forever before it finally disappeared.
Thing is, FansProject makes upgrades for toys nobody wants due to lacking in certain aspects, usually due to them being boring repaints. It's just due to the FP upgrades that they become sought after and rare.

Aw, man! A can't believe that... I TOTALLY wanted Magnus AND especially Skywarp. I'm always down for Prime and Seeker repaints.
What's wrong with you guys!! LOL.

1) City Commander. This probably tops everyone's list and for good reason. It's THE definitive version of Ultra Magnus. I have both the iGear and Perfect Effect sets for this guy and they both help, but if I had to boil it down, you don't need them to enjoy CC.
If I were a collector, I would go with this since Hasbro won't play ball officially.
3) Defender. Once more, everything you could possibly want from a Springer toy minus the deluxe size that hampers down most official efforts. Even the much maligned sword is sturdy, proven by braver souls than mine.
This version should've been released officially.
5) Impossible Toy's Quintesson Judge. Another near perfect representation of the character, you can finally condemn your TFs to death with your very own pompous, judgmental maraca. Again, not as perfect as an FP effort would be, but it's still bang-on. I can't imagine not having it as part of my TF collection as I'm a huge fan of the TF movie.
I definitely would have loved to have all of those in my youth.

Absolute musts?
FansProject:
City/D.I.A Clone/whatever the black repaint is called... Commander (This is a really nice set. Yes, it does limit some posability and some of it's a cheat with the BFG, but it looks fantastic. Takes a mediocre mold and makes it really stand out.)
Colossus (A crappy Energon Bruticus can be made to look better than and KICK the original's ass? Yes please!)
Protector (Takes a rather underwhelming mold and gives it almost a full range of motion, plus the trailer doesn't cheat. A really nice set.)
Warbot Defender (Springer? Triple changer? Looks bad ass? CHECK.)
Unicron.com Animated accessory kit (Takes great figures and makes them even better. An Allspark that opens? Sweet. A Ratchet that looks amazing? YES I NEED MOAR. And they delivered.)
I'd list the ImpossibleToys Valkyrie (Arcee), but it didn't receive the warmest reception. I love it to pieces and think it's great (though it does need some fixin'), I can't recommend it when it's up against greats.

Digging this up because I deem it better than starting a new one on the matter.
The UFO articulated hands for ROTF/DOTM Leader Optimus Prime. Full finger articulation, and built-in deployable knuckledusters. Very nice.
The Cubex transforming double buster gun set for the same figure. Full integrated storage, and you actually get two guns unlike with Buster Optimus Prime. I want this set a lot

Full finger articulation is weird to me. Not something I like on my figures. Kind of wish Fort Max and Metroplex didn't have the feature!

I find it works alright on some figures, and movie Optimus is one of them.
Also, it's entertaining on anyone if one is feeling in a puerile mood.
