That's...interesting. I wonder how he'll scale with the other figures. Oh man, I hope they don't do for the commander class what they did for the leader class figures. Make him a Voyager class with a bunch of accessories. Wait, does that mean we're getting a Hot Rod figure too? We just got one in the Studio Series line though. Should we get a Rodimus Prime figure in Studio Series? Good lord, so confusing.

I'm happy, either way. Hot Rod\Rodimus is a fav of mine. I'm guessing you'd be happy with it too :p

Current rumors/leaks say he'll be exactly that, Voyager-ish bot mode with fleshed-out trailer and high accessory count.

As far as we know currently, the already-out SS886 Hot Rod and the all-but-confirmed Kingdom Rodimus are the only releases of the character coming anytime soon, barring whispers of a black repaint for Hot Rod. The Commander Rodimus doesn't have a Hot Rod component/mode to "evolve" from, that's part of what SS86 Hot Rod is for, and so far everything points to characters getting figures in WFC OR SS86 but not both, since they're supposed to be complementary lines, unless they're actually different designs like Hot Rod vs Rodimus or the rumored Coronation Starscream.

TurboSax: Welcome.

Although I am not a fan of this release strategy, basically SS86 toys ARE Kingdom Toys that just could not get into the Kingdom line because Hasbro chose to include BW toys. If you take Kingdom Cyclonus and SS86 Scourge and put them side-by-side they are both supposed to be the definitive versions (currently) of Glavatron's lieutenants.

You wont need to worry about multiple versions of a specific character (i.e. Hotrod) being duplicated. However it does mean (oddly enough) that while Cyclonus could possibly appear in the Netflix Kingdom animated series (but likely wont), there is no possibility of Scourge showing up... :-?

What is the retail price point on commander class figures? I know the Leader class ones are $50.

Jetfire was discounted quite quickly at Walmart (dumb move on their part, but great for fans), the next year Skylynx was found at Target instead of Walmart.

Those two were both quite large however, and had tons of play features that made it well worth it. Both were highly praised. Jetfire is getting a second release along with Omega Supreme and a few other Siege toys. Also Skylynx was voted as best figure of the Earthrise Line. I'm quite skeptical about Kingdom Rodimus...but we shall see.

No Titans? So no Nemesis to match the Ark? The Ark may be more iconic, but I'd have liked the Decepticon's ship to go with it.

I don't think it would be as popular as the Ark, so if we ever get a Nemesis, it would be another pre-paid HasLab project like Unicron was.

As for the next Commander after Roddy, it's a pipedream to get a Titan Tidal Wave, so I'll settle for a commander at this point. Or a proper G1 PM Prime.

Well in some continuities The Nemesis is Trypticon

. Also I like to think in my own Head Canon that Trypticon was made from The Victory (Decepticon HQ in S1 &S2), as it was last seen in Scramble City, and never seen again from that point on.

Yeah, I'd rather have the nemesis after the Ark to keep things even.

It's weird that the Autobots outgun the Decepticons so badly. I guess that's what a Seeker army is for.

I was never entirely sold on him as a Titan, especially because I'd like for there to be a Armada Megatron for him to combine with and we wouldn't get that from a Titan. But a $100 Commander? I think that would work very well.

Actually, maybe we could get some really good three-member combiners like Tidal Wave from this class. Road Caesar? Magnaboss? Tripredacus? Rail Racer? Even go for four with Build King/Landfill!

Yeah I can't really see any reason Rodimus would be a Commander class. It was a HUGE stretch calling Prime a Leader class. I don't see how they could justify going up even higher with Rodimus.

It really is a shame what's happened to retail Transformers. Quality (both materials and engineering) has gone way down while prices have shot way up. I remember buying the Universe reissue of Armada Supreme class Unicron new off of the shelf for $60.

I agree to a point... In some ways I think the engineering has been pretty solid; I guess maybe that's relative to the budgets the designers are working under. Same could maybe be said about the materials, although I do agree that has seemingly declined a bit.
What I completely agree with is the prices... It just doesn't seem right that a figure like Cliffjumper costs $20. In fact, I'd say the same about Warpath, B.A., Netflix BB, etc.
I'd also say that's a stretch for the Datsun molds, Trailbreaker, Hoist, and yes, even Ironhide.

It is definitely going to be a reveal when we get to see how Rodimus is going to cost $70-$80.
In being excited for Galvatron, I'd assume he and Rodimus will be very similar in size at least in height, and possibly bulk.
My worry is that he may be packaged with a lot of extras, which end up being seen as unnecessary by a lot of people. And since this isn't even a SS86 release, why would he come with very many if any movie-specific accessories?
As of right now, I could totally see passing on this... When I think ahead to displaying stuff, and how I don't see the trailer being part of any set-up, I start considering taking this would be $80 and putting it towards a couple SS86 Sweeps and Wreck-gar.
