I would LOVE to have a significant other who collected TFs as well, although it is not a prerequisite, they MUST at the very least, tolerate my passion with some sort of decorum...if not totally share in it with me (latter most preferable!)...all my exs either enjoyed it but didn't collect or had their own collections (my ex-husband collected Beast Wars TFs and my ex before that had his own sizable G1 collection). As far as "geekiness", I find that quite nice....."geeks" are my type of people, since I am a HUGE one myself!

Be proud of your collections! Display them proudly in whatever part of your house you chose, and to hell with what the rest of the world thinks of you! My friends and family think I am quite insane for "still playing with toys at my age", but I DO NOT CARE what they think! I love my TFs and I could care less what they think of them! Some people collect crazier things than that and display them to the world.....after all, there are lot more dangerous things a person could be addicted to!

Exactly

I'm still getting used to the fact that the 1986 movie takes place 3 years in the past now.

Re: What does your spouse/significant other think?
I made the mistake of letting my son play with my transformers wheh he was little. They are no more
So I do not have any toys to collect. My husband knows that transformers was my favorite cartoon as a kid and that I played with them. He does not care he is a comic book/ super hero fan himself. We watch Justice League together and he can tell me about every one of them except that guy they call John. He does not know a thing about him. I think my husband was more into reading the comics then watching the shows though.

I agree! We decorate our house very tastefully with Tfs and comic oriented stuff and it makes me smile everytime i look at them. There's no reason anybody should'nt display and be proud of there collections, whatever they are. I just wish i had enough space to display all of them, but i just had to pack away the entire Cybertron line to make room for my G1s and newer Tfs figures. They will be missed!

I agree too.. LOL and I am also constantly having to pack away Tfs to find room to keep my G1s , classics, and movie figures on display.
only other option would be stop buying Tfs and thats not gonna happen

*gasp!* stop buying TFs?? Why that'd just be....DAFT!!! I quit for quite some time and I am kicking myself for it...I sold off most of my old collection and now I am feverishly trying to rebuild it...I know I will never have them ALL back, but I can pick out some of the choice pieces to return to my slowly growing re-collection!
Stop buying TFs.....perish the thought!!!!

I live alone and all of my TF items are in my home office in drawers. My long-distance boyfriend only knows that I have seen the movie...he does not know about the collection. I have two friends (males) in CA that think it is pretty cool that I am female and I collect TF items just like they do. It gets pretty silly when we meet up...sometimes we ask for advice from each other. Usually one asks for advice from me. These two guys want me to move in with them if I ever got a job in their area. It would be funny with all 3 of our collections...if you added them all up...it would be 450 TF figures.

My wife picked up on TF after we were dating but if I saw an already likeable girl and found out that she was into Transformers I would have been really into her.

Re: What does your spouse/significant other think?
My wife and I do not see eye to eye on the whole Transformers thing at all... She supports the autobots along with their cause. I however, being meniacal and all, support the Decepticon cause. I even have the Decepticon logo tattooed on my chest, as well airbrushed on my hood.
Other than that, she acutally thinks is all pretty cool, especially Bubmblebee. She was a nerd before I met her, so it''s all good.

Re: What does your spouse/significant other think?
Well, a few things here. When you have kids involved obviously you have to take a long look at your priorities.
Of course, you could always tell her that you want to pass these toys unto your children.
I think we've all been where you are in terms of overspending a bit, hopefully you can find a way to enjoy your hobby and still take care of the things that matter more.
I'm in this boat too, priorities after all. Back to the original question though, my wife is great about it. She is really supportive and our youngest daughter (5) is now a fan too, she loves the old movie, and seems to have pegged Hot- Rod as her favorite (is it because he's pink in the movie?).
We always put our kids first but when money allows I am more than welcome to hop off and buy some plastic crack.
