I'm going with Bludgeon. He has had many interesting visuals and a couple stories. I also like how he's portrayed as quite competent, I would love to see a version of him in a show as long as he's a full sized transformer with a spark

I assume you mean what character is under used?

I feel the Sideswipe/Sunstreaker combo is under used, and the brother concept. Disregarding the comics, my knowledge is limited.

I'd like to see more of Sideways, as he was portrayed in armada. A sort of anti-counterpunch working for unicron. It was a neat concept, but they'd need to play him closer to Longarm Prime/Shockwave.

I'd also like to see more hotshot. It's been years since he's been in any relevant media (unless he's popped up in RiD, I wouldn't know, I dont watch it)

I like hotshot, and feel a character like him would do well with a re-imagining as an up and coming recruit during the peak of the war for cybertron. Like, he was forced to go through the trials of the war and maybe hides all that experience and possible ptsd (if transformers can even get that, it would be interesting to see it explored) behind a sunny, optimistic attitude. He'd be interesting played like that I think.

The Seacons. I'd love to see a comic series where the Seacons go on all sorts of silly misadventures around the galaxy on a space-pirate-ship (perhaps named the Brinestar). Seriously though, they've barely gotten any exposure at all. They barely showed up in the Marvel comics, they got shafted as generic drones in Masterforce and they were treated pretty badly in the IDW comics (I think Nautilator got fried by Whirl, poor guy). Moar Seacons.

Likewise, the deluxe Insecticons and any of Blaster's cassettes that aren't le gay trivia robot Rewind. Especially Eject.

And, of course, it's a bloody crime that we haven't gotten any development for Protectobot "Cook the Crook" Rook. A felony, in fact.

Likewise, they haven't actually done anything with Viper, the sinister sidewinder of the skies (sapient or sparkless?), and that kinda bites.

Pretty much every combiner team. Aside from the Combaticons and Breastforce, they very rarely get any characterisation or even time outside of their combined form. This leaves you with a team of five or six stock soldiers - which is nice for crowdfillers and ragtag teams, but at the end of the day you don't really know much about the characters beyond tech specs. Which is a shame, because looking at some of them - especially the likes of Blades - there's a lot of potential imo.

Animated had one combiner (Safeguard, admittedly underused), and Armada had Perceptor and the Mini-Con weapon teams, dunno if you wanna count those. Or Go!, which was never actually broadcast per se.

And I gave up on the Energon cartoon partway through.

Well, I'm only counting combiners in the sense of a team of five or six - or at least three. Perceptor I guess works, but bizarrely we barely ever saw him himself iirc and it was mostly just the team members. Which is fun.
Safeguard might count mind. I think the big discrepancy for me is when the combiner isn't just like, a magic mushroom ala Wing Saber or Jetfire combining with Optimus where it doesn't result in a new being, more just a powered-up form of one of the characters involved. For instance, G1 Bruticus is definitely not just a powered-up form of Onslaught or Brawl or the like; he's an entirely different character with a unique personality. Energon Super Hot Shot, however, is just Hot Shot using Inferno or Ironhide or Jetfire or Rodimus as legs.

I think it would be better to go by the nature of the combined form. If so, Omega Prime would count (his first appearance made it very clear that Ultra Magnus was part of him, rather than simply being "worn" by Optimus), but Armada Prime in his various super modes wouldn't.

There's a small third category, though: Transformers who combine physically, but remain separate and autonomous individuals mentally. Only one instance of this comes to mind, Optimus and Leobreaker's "Savage Claw Mode", and it was only obvious early on, but it resulted in a scene of Optimus arguing with his arm.
