Not necessarily. The advantage is they have no interest in robots. Although a $3 poly bag MLP can put out a fire quick!prjkt wrote:Cobotron wrote:william-james88 wrote:Ironhidensh wrote:I like this thread. It makes me smile with warm memories of "the hunt". I once went to my Chinatown in hope of finding some but it seemed there were none, so I bought some G1 combiner KOs off sir toys at what I thought were decent prices.

But dammit, today I go to chinatown to get some bbq porc and what do I find in a gift shop:

ARGH! At the very least I would have saved on shipping for that Liokaiser. I wouldn't have picked up that Menasor though, it looks all kinds of weird. I might go back and get it if ever I find his loose G1 components locally though (but fat chance of that).

Can anyone tell me what that big bipedal tank drone is by the way?

The only one I was interested in was Groove simply because I have G1 Hotspot and First Aid and it would be fun to compare him to the two Combiner Wars versions we are getting. But I didn't want to pay 8$ for such a junky version (he looked really beat up. Instead I went to Toysrus for the a more upscale hunt and was glad to see Offroad and Breakdown available. Here<s a trick I wanted to share, when you see a certain discount one week advertised in the flyer ask for a raincheck even if the figure you want isn't out yet. ike that when it comes out (like with these two), you can get them at the reduced rate

And Walmart had some pretty great offering today too. I wouldnt post big retailers here but to give an idea of this aspect of the hunt and because Walmart today had a bunch of new stuff that was never there before, I thought it was appropriate.

And Winners (TJ Maxx in Canada) had the very first Gen Acid Storm I had ever seen in Quebec.

And now here is the stuff you are more accustomed to see. At the second hand place I found Crossover Transformers Hulk, Deluxe Optimus Prime from DOTM and some kind of ROTF MEgatron. Maybe a fast action battler?

Concerning your TRU shot - No major retailer in Omaha, or Council Bluffs, Iowa (neighboring city) has that much Transformers inventory at any given time. Not for the 3 years I've lived here. I haven't seen that many Transformers on a shelf since Bush was President.

Yeah, it's a Super Gobot. Destroyer to be exact.

The VW Super Gobot is Bug Bite, whose name's been repurposed into a white (w/purple highlights) evil Bumblebee redeco in more recent times.

Here are some pics of he place and what I found:

I got to transform that Magnus I had some fun. Dont need to own him now that I played with him. That is some geniusly simple design.
I was very lucky to find the minibots at 5$ each. One person was selling them 15$ a piece just a few steps away. I have never found them so cheap, considering I dont have to spend on shipping or any other costs. I took Powerglide, Cosmos and Warpath (didnt care for brawn or any other).

I also got some fun beast wars stuff. Nothing is complete but the prices were all cheap so I figured why not. Cobotron would be proud.

And I bought these two at 15$ a piece. This is where its not the best deal. Could have done better, but I was really curious about Blitzwing. I might sell him for cost since I am not too impressed (especially the robot mode) but I love this Crocodile! Can't wait to put lord Zarack on him and give him a noggin

I also got a gobot train (I love trains) and a deluxe insecticons. While I do not recommend G1 collecting for all, I do recommend anyone get their hands on these and the other Bandai G1 toys when you see them since they are the only toys which will never be reissued due to licensing reasons.

Oh Will, I'm so proud of you.
That's awesome. You said they are not complete, but they're not far from it. The 2 basics don't have any accessories. Scarem's chrome looks good. Bare with me here as I'm having temporary lose of name memory. I don't think wolf guy had ant accessories either, and iguana dude (Iguanus?) had one rocket that shot out of his mouth.
Sorry, just checked wolf guy. His tail becomes his sword. Well still pretty good.
Great haul all the way around!

They cost me 5$ cdn each (about 4$US) so even without accessories I think I did ok. I jut wanted to have some fun. And Scarem is missing 2 of his little insect legs so he isnt complete. But his chrome does look really good. I dont know who that little crab is but he has a super sweet robot mode.
And Cobotron, I almost shed a tear when you said you were proud. That's what all sons hope to hear.

Firstly Winners:
I found more Skrapnels for a friend and even found that supposedly ultra rare MLP doll Kanrabat was talking about. Fo a fraction of a second I considered buying it for the sake of having a rare toy but then I remembered that this is not he kind of guy I am and that this would be better for someone who really wants one. Also, I remembered I am not an 8 year old girl.

Then TRU:
I couldnt resist taking this pic. I will post it in the leader thread for fun.

Walmart:
Man, walmart is on the ball. Terrible prices so I didnt buy anything but its good to know all these toys are in canada and we are getting every new release as it comes out:

Thrift shop:
I had a lot of fun here. It's crazy the stuff you'll find for such low prices.
Like a Furby, some nintendo guns, a bumblebee mask and a bag of beat up transformers.

I can spot ratchet, but I have no clue who the other fellow is, probably not a transformer.

But this is the best part. Not transformers related but definitely 80s related. I found some turtles:

And the butts of 2 of them said 1988 (the year I was born by the way). At 2.99, I couldn't resist buying the bag, these were it's contents:

Your in vancouver, I suggest you wait till walmart has him. Shipping him even within canada would be at least 15$. So that's at least 50$ + tax for a hotspot (maybe more), not too great a deal.
