What's the budget for TF2?
Does anyone have any concrete information on TF2's budget? I can't imagine what Bay is going to do if he gets a 250+ million dollar budget. His action scenes are second to none. I'm hoping that he incorporates more car chase scenes in the next installment. A Bad Boy 2 epic car chase scene involving Hot Rod would be cinema gold.

Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg will return as director and executive producer for Transformers 2, while Paramount has announced a June 26, 2009 release. Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, and Peter Cullen are signed on to return. Before Transformers was released, Bay expressed interest in an aircraft carrier character, while producer Tom DeSanto was interested in the Dinobots, Constructicons, and Soundwave. Ehren Kruger was hired to write the script, alongside the returning Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman. The script was not completed because of the 2007 Writers Guild of America strike, but filming is expected to begin in June 2008
This is all I know. However, I would like to say...
"Please, Primus, God, no Hot Rod...I beg of you...no Hot Rod..."
That is all.

I've always thought another freeway chase featuring Motormaster as a car carrier dumping the Stunticons onto the road ala Bad Boys 2, but he vowed never to shoot those types of chases again.

Bay has said that he's kinda done doing car chases.
I'd think he'd have quite a lot of bank to work with this round...

Well with Transformers doing extremely better then we all anticipated, i'm quite positive Hasbro and Paramount are gonna give Bay big bucks, probably for more CG

I hope they give him a huge budget, but not too big to make Bay's ego grow and make him think "oh i have a huge budget, nothing i do can be bad now so i'll just make a half-asses movie".
However i second the notion for the hot rod freeway chase.
Where did Bay say he wouldnt film car chases like in Bad Boys 2 anymore? That and the chase from The Island are freaking awesome! He is great at car chases i dont understand why he'd want to give em up.

I saw him say it on the special features disc.

I doubt that was a confirmed estimate, since when they was filming the special features the sequel wasnt confirmed yet.
What did he say it might be anywho?

Hasbro gave no money to the project. I doubt they will give any the second time around either.

Bet they are kicking themselves for not putting in some money, seeing as the film quadrupled it's budget. I guess they will have to settle for all the Toy sales, and license sales (over 150 of them) instead.

The budget will not be allocated until a final draft script is written, but you can be assured it will be far more than the $150 million that Transformers got.
Awesomesauce; Use it, you know you want to.

More CGI=more characters. More characters=more toys and tie-ins. I suspect we'll see at least a 225 million budget although Bay and Co. has already proven he can make a decent one for less.

Regardless of the final budget as in the first film it was 150 million that does not count for advertising at all. The first film was just under 200 million with advertising and they need to spend about the same amount advertising the next one.
Personally I think it could be done for 200 million for the films budget and another 50 million for advertising the film.
Also, they need to get the Imax version of TF2 ironed out sooner, it almost did not happen in my area for the first film ( Seattle, Washington ) but I'm glad that it did, the picture was 60 feet tall and 80 feet wide and 12 thousand watts of stereo power and when Megatron came tearing through that old building after sam it really sounded like wooden planks were crashing and falling from the ceiling, Ironhides weapons had a lot of bass to them and it was awesome. One of my favorite scenes ( See here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uB1xPOhnkzs )is when Ironhide fires his weapons at the same time to propel himself over that girl and then resume the fight against Devastator.
