I am sure we will find out in one of the sequels.

My best guess is that it's in the same galaxy as us, but far enough away so that we couldn't notice a big metallic planet floating off in the distance with our uber telescopes :-P

Actually Cybertron itself is 1 Universe... 1 Galaxy... 1 Planet. It is not known... what Galaxy so we just define it as it's own Galaxy.
