If I thought that resets would become a semi regular occourence, I'd quit. I could not put that amount of time into the game in the sure knoladge it will be lost someday.

And running universes concurrently is simply not possible with the set up here.

I was pretty much deadset against a reset, but... having lost good deal of interest in HMW since the idea was first floated months (over a year?) ago, it doesn't bother me as much as it used to. Having a backup of my TFs' mottos and bios helps, too.

Speaking of being inactive... what the heck happened?! I don't visit HMW for 1-2 months, and things go topsy-turvy! :P

The only way I would be for set resets would be if you could advance in the game far far quicker then the current set up, probably near double the speed that it currently is at.

i think maybe you should just do waht burn did and have the option of totally reseting your team at any point.

Ike happened. HMW and most of Seibertron were lost when it hit Houston, where the Server is based out of.

The obvious thing would be for your team to be automaticly reset as soon as it has reached a full set of all statted up lvl 11s.

Maybe a 'hall of fame' could be set up to record the player's achivments, or even have them used as NCPs in quint like missions (perhaps a good idea for faction balancing, if a faction is lagging behind other factions, give them some tempory NCP missions against one lvl 11 'legend', might give a big xp boost without risking increasing the gap with the other factions).

Burn wrote:I remember many moons ago when V2 was being discussed, and the great debate revolving around it.

"Should there be a character reset?"

Many people were divided. Some were all for it, (the bulk of those being newer players who wanted a chance to be on the same level as the "veterans") some were firmly against it, (those who had spent many years building their characters up and many hours clicking links to deploy their bots) and those who just didn't know which way to go.

Personally I probably fell into the last category. I didn't like the idea of losing 5 odd years of playing but I also figured it might actually be good for the game as those 5 years had seen many bugs and glitches cause abnormalities along with many changes that may have affected things (energon glitch anyone?)

But then it came down to us not really having a choice when we lost all the data (though I kinda like the idea of starting a conspiracy theory that it was OS doing it intentionally and he used Ryan's problems as an excuse :P ) and you know what? Data loss has worked out good.

The forums are full of life, competition is fierece, and people are generally having fun again!

I'm no longer one of the top players in the game, but thanks to life changing direction, that already happened before the reset.

I WISH I could play the hours I use to as i'd love to be in the top ranks as it would be a great challenge. But at the same time, I don't miss the days of waking up early, sneaking on at work, staying up late at night, and generally giving up a social life just to stay ahead of everyone else.

I don't miss the days when I could calculate how many battles I had to win and how much xp I had to generate in x amount of time to catch up to sprokitz.

Now I can just sit back and actually enjoy the game again. I'll never be the top player I use to be, but at least i'll be having fun.

And the other benefit is i'm now able to use the team I was building for V2. Finally some of those kitbashes i've done can actually be displayed in this forum and actually be on topic. :P Plus it's actually given me motivation to work on others as I now have a chance to bring some brand new characters to life again.

But never forget the classics, you never know when the Freaks will return.

So those are my thoughts, feel free to add your own!
And if I can be bothered, I might even use this thread as an article for B.E.L.

I was reading your post but then i got distracted by a fly bouncing off the windows. Never the less i agree 92.01% of what you said, the other 7.99% we can never agree on and i want an apology post haste !

No way would I be for anything automatic. If I'd want to spend time playing with a maxed out character that I worked my tail off to get that would be my choice. No good job you have a maxed out character now...sorry though they'll only be able to be used as a legend by the game.

Automatic reset would suck. You spend years getting there and then as soon as you update everything boom you are back down to nothing. You have people sitting with maxed stats except for like int or rank in order to keep their characters.

Maybe not automatic, but I'd imagine having a maxed out charecter with nothing to really aim for anymorewill get pretty boring pretty quickly.

Much more fun to start again once you have achived all you can achive.

Well getting there and not being able to enjoy it would suck too. Give the option to reset at all stats maxed.

The "what happens when somebody maxes out every stats" problem just seems very distant to me... :P

But I think the extra stat levels (when somebody maxed out the stats, an 11th level of upgrading opens) or the retire charater to the Hall of Fame (to an NPC, maybe?) should be the solution

I think it should always be the players choice. What may be boring for some isn't necessarily boring for all. Of course this problem won't even be on the horizon for a few years.

[comor=red]Yeah, once all your charecters have their final stat, maybe a rest team button could apear on in the registary or team page, so it is completly up to the individual player.

I know myself, I would eventully get bored of nto being able to achive anything new, and it'd be easier than doing what Burn did.[/color]
