The reason they have to crash is fairly simple. They're disguising themselves as meteors that no one will be interested in.

Wouldn't it be faster if you just summarized for me?
You don't think a giant alien spaceship landing would be dramatic? If not a little cliche.Sonray wrote:Heres the best answer:

Simple.

I was just thinking they wanted to get rid of a headache, and they heard dropping from orbit and landing on your head cures it.
But if there is an instory explaination for the crashing, please, enlighten us.

The reason, as was given by the makers themselves, was that if these robots can transform into virtually anything, they can transform into space-fairing vehicles, even temporarily, rendering the whole space-ship notion redundant.
It would possbily have cost a lot too, as has been suggested.
The Prequel Novel (which contradicts the prequel comics) has them arrive in our solar system in The Ark (I believe), and then they travel the rest of the way by protoform. The reason they have an Ark here when the makers were like "NOWAI" about it, is because obviously the novel has actually nothing to do with the film. Its just merchandise.
This would probably be Bay's explanation too. Makes sense.Night Raid wrote:Atmospheric reentry is NEVER a gentle thing.
