Though if anyone does wonder, the stance among news staff here is that neither Paramount nor Hasbro is committing themselves to a full on reboot, so neither will we when discussing the films. They don't want to alienate anyone who liked the Bayverse films without feeling the need to be a slave to it, story wise.
I personally find that rather limiting on their behalf since I feel we never get a fresh start. It all ends up in a larger live action universe with no discernable cohesion. I guess the pre Daniel Craig Bond movies did that to great success so it's a viable model.
