I think this hits on some good points on the dinobots and can relate
on the ongoing argument with them.

He needs to beat off more and make fewer videos.

Well, Dinosaurs didnt exist in the 80s either. And yet people still accepted and liked the Dinobots. Why wont it work in 2008/2009? After all, it's just a movie.... If folks can accept a film with a guy who shoots web, an alien Man of Steel, I dont see whats wrong with the Dinobots.

Ironically, I saw this vid about a week ago. ("Transformers, robots in sh*tty disguises" XD)

Whether or not you enjoy the guys presentation on the vid he does have some valid points. In a cartoon show the idea of dinosaur transformers is pretty sweet. (Who didn't think dinosaurs were cool when they were kids?)

In the context of Bay's next movie, though, they make no sense. The point of Transforming into vehicles and tanks is to blend in with the human civilization. Metallic dinosaurs just don't make sense.

There is the rumor going around that they could show up as some sort of "recon group" that appeared in Earth million of years ago, and I guess that can make sense if the story is told convincingly. Perhaps then you can have them come back later in the movie only to let them have different Earth disguises?

If they do get them in the movie I would hope that they change the origin story and give them intelligence. The fact that Wheeljack gives them very limited intelligence is the dumbest thing I have ever seen, and I know I am not the only one who thinks this. There are some language issues with this vid, and most have probably seen this, but it's flagged on YouTube and should force people to register/prove their age. Just trying to be some-what responsible.

OK he does have some good argument, the same as I always had with them.
But why does he trow his toys around? If you don't like them give em to me!

No they don't, I kinda like the idea of them being military vicles with imeages of dinosors on them, like the Buldog on Boncrusher.

then all the decepticons have to do is listen to radio and tv reports
to find out if the dinobots are in the area and avoid them,its like going like
having urban camo uniforms in a forested area with tap dance shoes.
In G1 the dinobots stayed in base but in the movie unless they have a base
it won't work

My thoughts exactly. Statues, animatronic dinosaurs, it doesn't really matter what exactly. Dinosaurs have been popular since the first fossilized remains were found and have been a part of our culture ever since.

[sarcasm]...but I guess if some boring, unfunny guy with a youtube account made a video and posted it on the internet for the entire world to see, there is no hope for the Dinobots in TF2.[/sarcasm]

I think they should be triple changers!

Maybe they'll do it like Spotlight: Shockwave and call them "Dynobots" isntead of "Dinobots." That would go along with what that guy was saying about their disguises.

They won't call them Dinobots, and they won't turn into Dinosaurs.

The characters of Grimlock, and maybe some of the others, will be in the movie, turning into tanks and such, with reptilian robot modes. Or triple changers.

Every year there are plenty of reports of what people think are dinosaurs reported in wooded areas throughout the world.
America included.

In reality people report dinosaurs, so it would realistically work, and it'd be a great disguise as people looking for giant robots would ignore reports of giant lizards.

Why couldn't Dinobots work in the next movie? Didn't we just have a Decepticon that looked like a giant Scorpion attacking marines in the desert in the 2007 movie?

well then in that case TF2 can take place in the dessert

"hey bob why is it that no ones noticing the giant metallic dinosaurs?
No fred lots of people think they see dinosaurs so they go unnoticed dispite their would be hundreds off calls to the authorities and the public already knows of the big robots that attacked a city awhile ago"

Have you never seen films?

Early on, you hear about a spate of dino sightings. Maybe, if they really think the audience is thick, the mention it being in an area known for bigfoot sightings, or one of the US equivalents of Nessie, bang on about how no one has seen it clearly, it's hidden in thick trees or at night etc.

Then you have multiple ways to go; a lone hiker, a group of geeks who investigate the stories, or even a scene stolen from the G1 comics where a guy sits in a diner and Swoop comes out of wooded area grabs the guy's oil tanker and disappears into the woods again.
Tanker guy hears the sound, turns round, see's his tanker gone or maybe the silhouette of a giant bird like creature with the tanker in it's claws, looks at his beer, or says something cliche'd about the boss never believing this.

All very typically Hollywood.

Eventually, we find out Dinos came to Earth, got Dino modes, shut down, were awoken for some plot reason and have hidden since, seen only by the occasional rambler, becoming some of the myths we have.

Short, simple, and explains things to the audience in a way they'd accept.
At least they have when other films or TV shows have pulled similar angles.

yes I have seen flims and I don't want this film turning into "Dinobots the movie"IF there in the movie the movie will focus on them and draw away from the "normal" TFs.

They could have came to earth earlier when Dinosaurs were alive....

then scanned them giving them the dinosaur alt. modes. They leave Earth and have probably been on some type of prehistoric jungle type planet. (Being simple minded, They Probably like to be by theirselves)...

They hear the call from Optimus and return to Earth. The Transform into their Dino forms and Sam quickly tells them they cannot be disguised as that anymore if they stay on Earth.....

So we get like a cameo of the dinobots once in the movie before they take on other Earth forms such as military vehicles or whatever....of course they couldn't be called Dinobots anymore so they could scan Emergency vehicles and become the Protectobots

Point is...that could get them into the movie even though it would be brief

Of course people would be mad if they had to change their names

They might as well not be in the movie at all if they are only going to be in it for a minute or so cameo before becoming Protectobots or whatever plot device you want to use there.

I don't see why this is such a huge issue. Bottom line is that the people making the movie are going to put whoever they want into it. Spielberg likes Dinosaurs and fantastic plots with aliens and all sorts of outrageous things. Look at ET, Close Encounters, Jurassic Park, War of the Worlds, etc. If he has any input at all, which he likely will, there's a good chance the Dinobots will be in it. He was the one that convinced Bay not to pass on the opportunity to do Transformers to begin with.

The videos from the Sector 7 website included a G1 Grimlock, while not ideal for the movie, shows that they are at least aware that the Dinobots characters have a following. We have heard nothing but constant rumors that they really want to try to get the Dinobots into the second movie. It seems like they are pretty interested in incorporating them in some way.

The Dinobots were immensely popular when they made their first appearance and they have shown to have staying power among the Transformers Fandom. It would likely be a mistake not to have them in the next movie. I don't doubt that there is someone who can figure out a creative way to put them into the movie without people saying, "Oh, I believed the giant transforming robots from space part but these dinosaurs are ridiculous and unrealistic."

I don't see there being a problem with the Dinobots being in the movie anymore than an alien jet was in the first movie. If you ask me Megatron had a pretty crappy "disguise" but it worked for the movie goers new and old to the Transformers series. I didn't hear one person in the theater say, "Fake, look at that unrealistic alien jet." Every movie requires some amount of suspension of disbelief no matter how realistic the movie strives to be, otherwise they would just suck.
