I'm kinda thinking that Optimus will die is Revenge of the Fallen and I think he will be killed off for the exact same reason he was killed off in the G1 movie... to make room for more new characters and toys.

I think it's pretty unlikely that most people will buy a 3rd Voyager or Leader class Prime. I don't think that there could be enough difference in a 3rd set of toys to make people buy them yet again, especially voyager Prime.

I imagine we'll see Ultra Magnus and/or Rodimus in the 3rd movie and Ultra Magnus would make a good Leader class figure to replace Optimus.

So far the rumors are that Jetfire is an old Transformer whom walks with a cane. He and Prime will probably both be killed. I just don't think Jetfire will be a character needed for the 3rd movie, especially since he combines with Optimus.

Revenge of the Fallen seems to be a darker movie and more than likely the Autobots are gonna get served. I imagine we will see more than just a couple autobots get killed in this movie. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if Ironhide and Ratchet were both killed because it doesn't seem to make since for them to be in a third movie when there are many, many more characters we would all like to see make it to the BIG screen...

Also... I bet Starscream gets blown away by Megatron/Galvatron

Bumblebee will be the only character from the 1st movie to survive to the 3rd movie... just my thoughts

He better not die in ROTF. I could see this happening in the 3rd movie, yeah. But Prime better not die in ROTF.

People still buy every version of g1 prime.


Make the toys good enough and people will bu'em no matter how many times they have it already

i really hope not. in fact, i'd be fine if he lived thru the whole movie series. i've never liked the idea of Rodimus Prime(or Galvatron for that matter) and when they introduced him in the 86 movie, i lost slight interest in the series. i don't want to find myself losing interest in these new movies. Prime is just too cool to be killed off again.

Er, dude... Optimus Prime has literally been killed (and subsequently brought back to life) in just about every single TF series after the 1986 movie. It's practically inevitable he dies at some point in a particular continuity.

doesn't mean they have to follow that forumla for this new movie series, but if they do then oh well. i will be less interested i suppose.

He will die, but return as a power master. Bumble Bee will merge with Sam as a head master and there we have it, the gimmick for the third movie.

Oh yeah, a cane?! Cant they simply replace his hip? This is just getting ridiculous now.

I honestly hope that none of them die.
Though it sure looks like Prime will come very close to it, just from looking at that sucker punch he recieves in the trailer.

Yeah, I can imagine that Prime would have a close-call with death in ROTF, but I really can't see him dying... at least, not in ROTF. Like I said, maybe in TF-3.

I don't know how that would work though.
It would be commercial suicide to kill him at the end of the trilogy. They'd have to kill him and bring him back all in the same movie.
And I think fans would be so ticked. I know I would be.

If they kill him at all, they need to do it in this movie so he can come back in the next one.
But I don't want him dying at all.

The 1986 transformers movie was a flop. It upset alot of kids and parents of kids with all the characters dying and the dark tone not to mention the infamous of "oh ****"

I have heard that there will be a trilogy, just by Michael Bay saying he would make a 3rd one, but only after taking a year off. Also, I think the trilogy will follow the original Star Wars trilogy. The first one will be just an adventure, the second one will be a darker tone, and the last one brings it all together. For that to work, either Bumblebee or Prime would have to die in the second one. I know for us TransFans Prime's death is more emotional, but remember, these people have no problem slaughtering actual story for pleasing the general public, who probably have a bigger emotional investment in Bumblebee, because of his relationship with Sam. Still, were I in charge, I would kill off Prime, fatally injure Sam, and bring in Maximus as the new leader and Sam's only hope of survival. Thus, the second movie will end with the new leader of the Autobots, a headmaster or powermaster Maximus/Sam. Being a kid, he would perfectly fit for the role of "unfit leader" as Rodimus was in season 3, thus bringing back prime in the last movie. All is well that ends well. The action scenes and special effects would get more intense of course.

Ok folks here's my theory................ I think Optimus might get put out of commission, ie., All Hail Megatron style, or get seriously injuried that he's out of the game for awhile..... I doubt they'll kill him outright though.
But to the one that said in every variation of TF since '86 Optimus has died.......... I don't think so and I'll tell ya why;
killing off Optimus and most of the G-1 cast is what killed the TF series by the end of the '80s. Why do you think that every TF series from Beast Wars/Machines, Robots In Disguise, Armada, Energon, Cybertron/Galaxy, this new animated series and this Movie, what has been the ONE constant?

It seems his face got smashed off in the trailer hmmmm. Maybe he will get a new and improved body and "save the day" by the end of the movie and be all bad ass doin it
