Will We See Any Transformers 2 Stuff at Botcon This Year? I mean, by the time the next Botcon rolls around, the sequel may only be a month or so away, so if they want to unveil anything, Botcon 08 would be the time.
I remember Botcon 2006 (the one before Botcon '07, which had the pre-screening of the movie) had a small teaser movie with a greeting from Michael Bay as well as some shots of Optimus Prime and Bumblebee driving around in vehicle mode. Nothing extraordinary, but if you remember, they were the first official look at the vehicle modes for some of the characters in the film.
So, who thinks we'll get a little teaser info on the sequel come April of this year?

Bay went to the extent of insulting fans by manufacturing a bunch of misleading info for the sake of secrecy.
What's the point of suddenly revealing them before the movie is shown?

Personally I am not the least bit insulted by his attempts to throw people off, why should anyone be insulted by it ? secrecy in hollywood is nothing new and in the center of Paramount studios in the older section and it's in the guided tour there is a fountain to make noise so people cannot hear what is being said in open windows in the directors and producers offices.
If I read information and it turns out to be incorrect either by deliberate deception or just plain they got their facts wrong to begin with then that's on me and not necessarily the source location because I chose to either not do any research on it myself or just went along with the general public perception.
This is why I stopped using "Crapipedia" as a credible source of information as there is far too many inaccuracies in it that anyone, you, me, whomever wants to make additions or changes to it.
People need to learn to filter what they hear or even read and make better decisions is all.
After someone hacked his computer and the script for the first movie got leaked on to the internet I cannot blame Michael Bay for taking the measures he is at all.

The point is, he was so proud announcing his deception. Like some prank. As if, every fan is a dumb ass digging for his false info.
If he just kept quiet about it, and let the fabricated info run its course, it would have been more honorable. And even more effective in protecting the hollywood secrecy.
But he just got slam in into your face. He savors the moment. In doing so, demolished the effectiveness of the fabrication.

No, he's making it so that we as fans don't know every second of the movie in explicit detail 1 month before the movie hits. He's making to was actually have to go to the movie theater *GASP* in order to find out exactly what happens. Like in the 80's and 90's before internet when you actually had to watch a movie and then wait 6 months to a year for it to come out on vhs.
If I was making the movie I would leak pictures of leader one and cy kill humping a care bear just to piss people that think they get the "scoops" and inside "info" and are "in the know"

I have to say, knowing as much as I did about the movie before I went to see it really coloured my experience. The Geewunner in me held me back from really enjoying it at the theatre. Now that I've had a chance to watch it a few times more I see that it's not as bad as I had originally thought (though there are still little things that bug me about it).
I can't blame Bay for trying to keep some of it secret. In general Sci-Fi fans are the most critical of what they choose to watch. You don't hear fans of chick-flicks complaining. TRying to keep the fans guessing is part of the fun for big movie makers. Let Bay have his fun now. We'll have lots of chances to complain later.

Since this is the first Botcon I''ll be going to since '02, I'd love to at least see the designs for the new characters, but with the writers strike going on, I have to wonder if it will even be legal to show us any of the designs.
AS for Bay's deception to the fans, I don't see what the big deal is. I'd much rather wait and be surprised.

Re: Will We See Any Transformers 2 Stuff at Botcon This Year?
I very much doubt there would be any official TF2 stuff this early in the production. Do we even know if the script is done or how far along it is. Sketch conceptions might not be beyond the realm of possibility, but what would they show? I doubt they would show new robots because that seems to be one of those surprise/spoilers that Bay would not leak out right now.
Even if there is some TF2 stuff, I wouldn't expect anything spectacular.

I don't recall reading about his pride in any of it but it sounds like you're reading too much emotion into it and no not every fan is a dumb ass just those that are trying to dig up every secret on the movie which is why he is doing this and it's nothing against the fans that will wait patiently to see and hear official news when we get very close within a few months to the movies release.
Slamming it in peoples face would only describe a response from someone who really wants the information about the movie and the effectiveness of the deception is only destroyed if they do obtain legitimate information about it.
Letting people think the movie is one way up until opening day or shortly before will only make them feel betrayed and get their hopes up too much if they think something they like will happen in the plot, if they know there is false information being released then it will be a gentler let down rather than a sudden twist or betraying of the truth.
