At work, my only option for listening to CDs is Windows Media Player, not my favourite program by far, but I'm stuck with it. Anyway, I'm having trouble because I can't find the option to give me the playlist. You know, the track information with band name and track name. I get that swirling smoky graphic, which I don't want. Anyway, I must have looked around WMP options a dozen times but can't figure out how to switch it. Anyone know how? Or at least how to turn off this awful graphic? If it matters, I have WMP 9.

At the top of my WMP screen is five different menus: Now Playing, Library, Rip, Burn, and Sync. Clicking Library gives the list of artists and songs. I would believe it is the same for your WMP, but not 100% certain.

This should be the answer. You can create new playlists on the left, you'll see an icon for it. Then it's a matter of dragging songs from the central list (which represents songs in a directory) over to the Playlist Edit list on the far right. When you're done, just save the playlist.

To turn off the visualisations, just right click on it and click No Visualisation.

This might be my problem. I don't have the five menu items at the top. But I don't see any way of making them show up. Nor do I get a "No Visualization" menu option. What kind of whacked version of WMP do I have?

Huh, I'm not sure, sounds like it might be WMP9 or around there somewhere. All I can suggest is going to Windows site and downloading WMP11.

Mind doing a screen cap so we can see what you're working with? WMP can be a good media player if you set things right.
