Rotorstorm!
So, In 1992, A new character was created (because Hasbro needed to sell more toys, obviously) and immediately got a toy made of him. Strangely, However, That was the end of that. He got a toy and then nothing.
He was never used in fiction- No comics, No cartoon, Nothing- And as a matter of fact, Never really mentioned again, Period.
However! This is not the end of our friend Rotorstorm's story, Oh no, Dear reader, For in the year 2010 (18 years later) a story was published that made him great!
That story, Was Last Stand of the Wreckers.
If you've not read that (what are you even doing here), Go read it now.
Like right now.
Go ahead, I'll wait.


So, All caught up? Good, As this review will contain spoilers for Last Stand of the Wreckers #1-5.
As always, I'll add a small warning before said spoilers.

So, For only the second time in 18 years, Rotorstorm has gotten a new figure (No doubt due to the popularity of LSOTW; Indeed, The figure's head is even based on the comic version's),
And it's really good!
It has pretty much everything you'd want from a Rotorstorm figure.

I've seen some complaints that his weapons aren't comic accurate, And while that is true, It doesn't really bother me (And apparently there's already a third party upgrade kit that fixes this problem).




Flight stand not included, But for those wondering it's the one that comes with DC's Batman The Animated Series expression packs.

With the other Wreckers (no Siege Impactor, I abhor that mold) Also, No Twintwist, Was never able to find him, With Ebay prices now ridiculously high.

The weapons can be ported in various configurations.

I think the official configuration of the feet in helicopter mode look.. Out of place, So I like angling them this way instead.

Because whats the point of having a Rotorstorm figure if you can't recreate one of the comic's most traumatic deaths?

As I sat here writing the very beginning of the review, Photos taken days ago, I realized not having Rotorstorm pictured with an actual combining Wreckers team in figure form would be a huge missed opportunity, So I pulled the Fall of Cybertron Wreckers off the shelf and combined them into Ruination, And here they are!

This figure is really good. I've always been for Hasbro making more IDW style figures, And The Wreckers are very near the top of my list, So when this figure was announced, I was pleasantly surprised.
It's not 100% comic accurate (most of the time that'd be impossible anyway) but there's no mistaking it being Rotorstorm. I would've liked them to have found a way to incorporate the little turbines he has above his shoulders in the comic into the figure, But it's not a big deal. Also, The blades that rest on his back are officially transformed pointing upwards, Where in the comic they pointed straight downwards.

However, This is not a complaint, As you can pretty much achieve this look (probably unintentionally on Hasbro's part) by simply flipping the blades the other way around, Like this.

Honestly, All I could've hoped for was more comic accuracy with the figure (not that it's not comic accurate as it is) The turbines and the guns being my only complaints (the guns not being my complaint specifically, But a valid one nonetheless).

9.5 out of ten.
